Basic Function
The Control Systems Engineer has the primary responsibility for defining and maintaining the control strategies, including both advanced process control (APC) applications as well as DCS-based regulatory controls. This position generates a broad range of challenges that require routine interaction with other work groups to ensure maximum value is derived from the control systems.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Implement, maintain and troubleshoot , Honeywell DCS(TDC 3000 and Experion PKS), Triconex, TCP/IP based networks, Microsoft Windows servers and Microsoft Windows domain infrastructures
• Define and support DCS regulatory control strategies
• Monitor system and network performance
• Ensure compliance with corporate security standards, control system life cycle planning and budgeting
• Provide technical consultation, formal and informal training, and development of documentation, standards, and procedures in relation to their role
• Act in a support or team role for a variety of projects in order to deliver project objectives
• Provide technical consulting and direction to the Process Control Specialists and less experienced Control Engineers
• Provide support for controller performance and drive improvement of alarm management KPIs
Min. Qualifications
• B.S. in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
• Typically 4 to 8 years related job experience
• Ability to build partnerships with a diverse group of work functions to deliver results and drive innovation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor and coach operation team members to grow capabilities.
• Ability to develop and build process control strategies, cascades, PID controls, and DMC controls.
• Strong understanding of Honeywell Control System (TDC 3000 and Experion), Triconex Tristation 1131, Wonderware.
• The ability to manage multiple and changing priorities and leading initiatives to deliver results that support the site’s goals.
• The individual should understand basic process engineering fundamentals, distillation, heat transfer, reaction engineering and have the ability to learn control theory fundamentals specifically PID control/tuning.
• Ensure compliance with corporate security standards, control system life cycle planning and budgeting
• Provide technical consulting and direction to the Process Control Specialists and less experienced Control Engineers
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience with Process Control in olefins, chemical, and/or refining facilities is preferred.
• Experience with AspenTech products, specifically IP21 and DMC.
• Experiences with Foxboro DCS
• Experience with Hexagon products, Plant StateSuite, Integrity
• Plant manufacturing experience, specifically leading management of change.
• Networking experience with switch configuration or virtual machines (VMware)
