Basic Function

This position supports the Bayport Facility, located in Pasadena, TX. Our Bayport Complex consists of three Propylene Oxide units, one Ethelene Oxide unit, three Polypropylene units and one Cataloy unit.  This position has the responsibility for supporting and improving the Basic Regulatory and Advanced Process Control (APC) applications, as well as identifying and implementing new control applications to improve plant throughput, profitability, stability, reliability, and safety.  This position generates a broad range of challenges that require routine interaction with other work groups to ensure maximum value is derived from the control systems.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop APC opportunities and assess benefits for prioritization into a five year APC plan.
  • Conceive, justify, design, and commission new APC applications and inferential product quality control.
  • Maintain existing APC applications, and perform audits of APC application’s benefits.
  • Define, develop, document, and support DCS regulatory control strategies and APC applications.
  • Provide technical consultation, formal and informal training for process control applications.
  • Act in a support or team role for a variety of process control projects.

Min. Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of five years of industry experience in the petrochemical industry.
  • The individual should understand process engineering and process control theory fundamentals, with demonstrated ability to model and control petrochemical processes.
  • This position requires an understanding of wide variety of advanced regulatory control strategies, multi-variable APC applications, and development of inferential qualities. 
  • A minimum of three years experience with both Aspen DMC and a modern DCS system (Honeywell Experion or Foxboro) is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Advanced Process Control in chemical facilities is highly preferred and is a major differentiator.
  • Candidates must have excellent leadership, ethics, teamwork, and communication skills with a results oriented commitment. The ability to manage multiple and changing priorities is essential.
