Our Oudsbergen site is the home for the LyondellBasell Color Innovation center and has around 20 employees.

To further expand our professional team in the LYB Color Innovation Center in Oudsbergen ( Belgium ) we are looking for a:

                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Product & Application Development (R&D) Engineer for Color Masterbatches  (CPC )



 

Basic Function :

As a PAD ( R&D) engineer you are responsible  for developing & implementing innovation, in the area of new products or/and new technologies applicable to color masterbatches. Developing ‘solutions for a better tomorrow ‘ is your key driver to increase our sustainable product solution offering & decreasing the carbon footprint. The work activities are performed according to the business strategy & market needs. Your work has an impact to the global color masterbatch business of LyondellBasell.


 

Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Developing innovative and sustainable solutions or improve existing ones, in the field of color masterbatches. These solutions are developed according to the market needs and are aligned with the business strategy.
  • Implementation of the new developments.  As a project manager, you will be responsible for the full product development cycle & implementation, taking into consideration the setting of targets, regulations (food contact, REACH,…), safety, costing, assessing IP as well as processability. Tasks include (but not limited to): defining color recipes, setting up test plans for application testing ( in the form of bottle, film, sheet or injection molding applications), coordinating and evaluating esthetic properties, steering customer testing,  coordination  of up-scaling, …..
  • Drive, as project manager, specific brand-owner projects related to color development/business and sustainable solutions.
  • Reporting including giving regularly project updates to different stakeholders ( including, but not limited to, gate review meetings, monthly and bi-yearly project updates).
  • Technical responsibility for color masterbatches which includes support of internal stakeholders ( ie. TS, Key Account Managers, Marketing, New Business Development, R&D, Procurement, Product Safety,…) and external customers ( ie. brand-owners and key convertors).
  • Support customer complaints.
  • Being up to date with recent developments (state-of-the-art) in the area of pigments, additives, polymer and color trends by reading literature, patents, attending conferences, fairs and regular meetings with raw material suppliers and universities.

Profile :

  •  Master in (Material) Sciences or Engineering (must), PhD (nice to have)
  •  Knowledge of pigments and/or polymers is a must
  •  Relevant experience in product development & project management is preferred
  •  Knowledge of business-specific software (Accolade, SAP) is nice to have
  •  Critical, structured and analytical mindset
  •  Coming from a corporate environment ( nice to have )
  •  Strong customer focus
  •  Sense for creativity and innovation 
  •  Strong organizational skills and result driven 
  •  Fluent in English, basic Dutch
