Basic Function

To lead and supervise all work activities during process engineering definition, design, construction, commissioning and startup phase of new projects, capacity expansions and modifications. At any given time, should be able to handle, execute, supervise and guide teams for managing assignments utilizing internal and/or external resources.

Roles & Responsibilities

General

•    Ensure strict adherence to requirements of assignment’s scope, quality, safety, environmental, cost and schedule targets during all phases of execution of project and/or assignment according to overall objectives, meeting company standards, country statutes and best engineering practices.  
•    Maintain Quality records of all Process Engineering Assignment executed, which are auditable.
•    Assure that the company’s decisions are communicated to and documented properly with the contractor. 
•    Assure the proper interface between contractor and company relevant personnel in general and implement agreed upon Quality Assurance/ Quality Control requirements. 
•    Mobility (both in India and International) is essential.   
•    Always encourage innovation and value addition in the service provided. 
•    Provide leadership to GP managed projects as owners PE/PEM in FEL1/2/3 

 

Area of Expertise, Requirements

•    Execute/guide/supervise all process modeling work utilizing the software available ensuring accuracy and optimization of the results. 
•    Selectively participate in PFD, P&ID reviews, Safety studies and model reviews, other reviews and should be capable of approval of key design documents, vendor prints, vendor shop inspections and performance tests.
•    Initiate and justify scope change requests as needed and communicate scope changes for approval in time. 
•    Guide and coach process/lead process engineers in the team. 
•    Provide internal training in self-expertise areas, identify training needs for self and others.   
•    Assure the relevant inputs of discipline engineering, process engineering and relevant standardization are properly incorporated in the relevant specification. 
•    Support cost estimates (capex/ project opex)  
•    Support provision of resource plans, schedule, and budget control data. 
•    Contribute to develop/improve the benchmarks involving process engineering work. 
•    Develop alternate service providers for some/all Process engineering related work. Ensure the team members are equally equipped to perform themselves if necessary.

•    Own at least a site for as SPOC (single point of Contact) to develop working relationship 
•    Ensure Confidentiality related requirements and maintain  updated CDA’s. 
•    Excellent knowledge of all phases of a Project / Process Engineering Assignments in petrochemicals & polyolefins sector including feasibility, process design, basic engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, start up and operation. 
•    Broad technical knowledge and experience in the field of refinery, petrochemicals & polyolefins processes. Sound and profound knowledge with adequate experience in process engineering, unit operations, inorganic and organic chemistry, thermodynamics, mathematics and techniques like steady state and dynamic simulations in Aspen Plus/Hysys/Pro‐II, AFT/Pipenet, Aspen Flare analyzer, Flaresim, HTRI, DNV pHAST, control valve sizing etc. used in the petrochemical/Refinery industry. 
•    Understanding of Process Safety related studies like HAZID, HAZOP, SIL requirement, Electrical Area Classification, and knowledge of methodologies to evaluate system for adequacy, recommending mitigation measures, exposure to use of software like PSPPM, PSV plus or equivalent preferred. Adequate exposure and experience in reviewing other discipline deliverables (plot plan, 3D model, data sheets etc), giving timely process engineering inputs, understanding the engineering sequence for various project phases and inter dependency of various disciplines. 
•     Excellent planning and control management skills, Project Management Skill 
•     Understanding of International standards like API, ASME, NFPA, DIN etc engineering standards and government regulations relating to the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of chemical plants 
•     Experience in working on Project Engineering Management / Process Engineering Assignment of (field) projects up to US $ 50 MM. 
•     Able to be innovative in the way in which Project / Process Engineering Assignments are delivered, resources are optimized. 
•    People Management Skills: Monitoring performance of direct reports and motivate and guide them to acquire new skill sets and improve their competencies.  

Min. Qualifications

Education
•    Minimum Chemical Engineering degree  
•     Additional specific niche experience, certifications in expertise areas like HSE, PMP, Simulations etc.. are plus points  

Work Experience 

•    15-22 years of relevant experience in the field of petrochemicals, refining, exposure to Olefins and polyolefin technologies. Experience in Operations and Plant Technical Services/Engineering (EPC).
•    Working experience in multi‐functional environment in operating petrochemicals plants and/or with engineering/ construction companies/contractors 
•    Exposure to state of art IT infrastructure and utilization of software tools to its best outcome. 
•    Adequate foresight to oversee and integrate complete execution for plant design. 

Languages English, additional language(French/German/Italian)  preferred

Other skills
•    Strong negotiating abilities 
•    Exposure/Experience in sustainability and circularity areas like Carbon Reduction, Carbon Capture, Alternate Energy, Alternate Fuels, Plastic Recycling is preferable.
