Site Process Safety Engineer (m/f/d) (NewCo)

Announcement:

In June 2025, LYB announced entering into an agreement and exclusive negotiations for the sale of four olefins & polyolefins sites and the associated business in Europe. The sites to be sold are located in Berre (France), Münchsmünster (Germany), Carrington (UK), and Tarragona (Spain). The sites together represent a scaled olefins and polyolefins platform strategically located in proximity to a longstanding customer base and with access and connectivity to key infrastructure. 

Closing of the proposed transaction is currently expected in the first half of 2026. From the start, the new company will be a scaled leader in European Olefins & Polyolefins. Powered by strategically located assets, a diverse product portfolio, and operational excellence, it aims to transform the business, fostering an agile, entrepreneurial culture where fast decision-making and hands-on collaboration drive transformation and growth.

Are you ready?

You will be crucial to a successful transition and, when the sale is closed, success of the new company. You will become part of a new dynamic organization with around 1,800 employees, headquarters in Rotterdam and production sites in France, Germany, UK and Spain with a strong focus on customer excellence.

Day in the Life:

• Support manufacturing in solving process safety related issues in polymerization, monomer production, extrusion and solids handling areas
• Support process hazard analysis and risk management
• Support the Management of Change (MOC) process for all plant changes
• Promote technical process safety exchange within the site assessing and promoting implementation of better practices and technical solutions
• Actively participate in PS communities and watch out for best practices
• Observation of rules, regulations and legislation concerning process safety and the state of safety technology. Implementation of respective amendments in the company guidelines and regulations and information of the affected/relevant areas
• Pragmatic implementation of OE standards
• Investigation of process safety related incidents
• Stay up-to-date regarding new technologies and best practices in the field of process safety
• Participate in regular safety walks to ensure HSE standards are recognized and followed
• Member of local NEZ Team
• Qualified person with special knowledge about explosion prevention and Facility Siting
• Process Safety On Board Focal Point Münchsmünster

You Bring This Value:

• Chemical or process engineering degree (Technical College/University)
• Preferably 5 to 8 years of experience in either process engineering, operations or maintenance (preferably instrumentation & electrical or process engineering background)
• Knowledge of process safety, explosion prevention, handling of flammable liquids and combustible dusts, mechanical integrity, risk assessment
• Good communication skills (fluent German, advanced English)
