For our German site in Münchsmünster we are looking for a

 

Safety Engineer (m/f/d)

 

The purpose of the job is to consult and support for Operations, Maintenance and other manufacturing functions in safety related topics with special focus on occupational safety. The position drives occupational related initiatives on the site and acts as the site process owner for occupational safety.

 

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

 

  • Serve as the Designated Safety Officer (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit) in accordance with ASiG
  • Provide expert safety-related consultancy to Operations, Maintenance, and other functions, with a strong focus on occupational safety
  • Act as Site Process Owner for Operational Excellence (OE) standards related to occupational safety
  • Coordinate all communication with the Employer’s Liability Insurance Association (Berufsgenossenschaft)
  • Conduct Health Risk Assessments (HRA)
  • Develop and implement strategies and objectives to improve HSE performance, focusing on risk assessment and incident prevention; monitor performance using appropriate frameworks, metrics, and indicators
  • Perform incident investigations covering occupational safety, process safety, reliability, and related scenarios
  • Participate as a member of the Learning from Experience Council, including reviewing incidents for learning potential and drafting appropriate corrective measures
  • Conduct additional risk analyses beyond the existing work permit system
  • Collaborate in safety-related task forces and committees at the LYB Münchsmünster site
  • Serve as a member of the Site Emergency Management Team

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Eng./B.Sc.) in Safety Engineering or a related relevant field
  • 3–5 years of professional experience within the chemical industry
  • Certified Safety Officer (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit gemäß ASiG)
  • Expertise in Occupational Safety, supported by strong networking abilities
  • Proficiency in both German and English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and keen understanding of human behavior
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to enhance HSE processes and improve HSE tools
  • Experience collaborating within interdisciplinary and company-wide teams
  • Strong networking capabilities
  • Open, transparent, and effective communication style
