Basic Function
The Maintenance Scheduler is responsible for creating and managing daily and weekly maintenance work schedules and arranging for manpower and materials that are required for our maintenance work plans. The scope of work includes scheduling planned maintenance activities for Lyondell and resident contract personnel for both daily maintenance and mini-maintenance outages. The Scheduler utilizes a list of required work provided by production (PMC) and the list of available maintenance resources to construct daily and weekly schedules that fully utilizes the resources available in the most efficient way possible. This position verifies work process and procedure compliance while resolving issues. The Scheduler provides input to the Planners for scheduled jobs in advance and forecasts any maintenance resources needed. The Scheduler solicits feedback on executed jobs and then makes necessary changes to ensure work efficiencies continue to improve. The function is critical to the success of the Maintenance and Operations Work Process (MOWP).
Roles & Responsibilities
- Creates outage maintenance work schedules (excluding plant turnarounds) based on backlog of planned maintenance jobs provided by the Lyondell and resident contractor planning groups
- Provides reports on resource utilization and recommends any staffing changes that may be necessary based on historical trends and forecasts
- Coordinates with "owning" groups to ensure that all necessary preparations are made to allow for planned maintenance activities to proceed as scheduled
- Adjusts and re-communicates schedules and redirects resources as necessary to accommodate changing production priorities or available resources
- Sets up and levels weekly schedules based on associated production unit priorities and current business environment to optimize the use of site wide available resources.
- Accountable for transmitting "work packages" developed by planners for non-routine maintenance work to appropriate Maintenance Supervisors according to maintenance schedule at daily HDIG meeting
- Conduct daily "How did it go" meetings with PMC's, and Maintenance Supervisors
- Accountable for maintaining a Capital/Routine combined schedule
- Accountable for maintaining a 3-month (Long Range) schedule of Resource Utilization
- Accountable for keeping the PM's, environmental, and higher priority work in the schedule
- Run Monthly KPIs and report out to management
- Must have good negotiation, communication (written, verbal, and presentation), organization, and interpersonal skills and the ability to make effective decisions and manage conflicting priorities
- Must be self-motivated and customer oriented
- Must have strong computer skills particularly in SAP, Windows applications, and e-mail
- Must stay current with maintenance practices and technology
- Provides coaching to planners on quality of job plan logic
Min. Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- SAP planner experience in support of petrochemical maintenance process, and/or a minimum five (5) years’ experience as a maintenance craftsperson/technician in at least one of three primary skill areas (fitter/boilermaker/welder, machinist/millwright, or instrument/electrical/analyzer) in a petrochemical or refining environment will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of prior scheduling with Primavera or similar scheduling tool is preferred.

- The anticipated salary range for this position is $117,920 - $162,140. The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
