Basic Function
The Mechanical Integrity Inspector is responsible for all inspection activities for stationary equipment such as piping, pressure vessels, storage tanks, etc. according to industry best practices (API 570, 510, 653, etc.) in order to maintain mechanical integrity and comply with OSHA CRF 1910.119j and company standards. The Inspector develops and ensures timely execution of unit inspection plans working with Inspection Management Software. The position issues inspection recommendations and Nonconformance Reports (NCR) for deficiencies found during inspections of fixed equipment and drives approved and timely completion of repairs. In addition, the Inspector ensures that Technical Directives, Engineering Standards and Best Practices are implemented in their area of responsibility. The position maintains electronic files of equipment data and history. The position also provides QA/QC support for repairs and new fabrications, as required. The position is responsible for setting expectations and coordinating contract inspection services resources as needed.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Inspector must have or be capable of achieving (within the first 3 years of obtaining the position) at least to of the following certifications:
- API 570, 510, 653 and AWS - CWI certifications
- Assertive in the recommendation of repairs critical to plant safety
- Ability to learn and utilize the following computer software: SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, Plant Manager, Meridium
- Inspector will be expected to develop the following knowledge with on-the-job and formalized training:
- Petrochemical Equipment maintenance and repair methods including but not limited to: pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, reactors, furnace, boilers, etc.) and failure mechanisms associated with this equipment
- Pressure relief device operation, failure mechanisms, and NBIC code requirements
Min. Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalency is required;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
- Three years’ experience in refining, petrochemical, or chemical process industries
Preferred Qualifications
• Two years’ experience in mechanical integrity inspection-related activities
• College level courses desired in related field of study
• Working knowledge of the following codes and standards: NBIC, ASME Section VIII Div. 1, ASME Section V, API 571, API 580, API 581, API 584, ANSI B.16.5, ANSI B.31.3, and ANSI B.31.1.
• Working knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination methods and certifications in accordance with the requirements of ASNT SNT-TC-1A in the NDE inspection techniques such as visual, UT, MT, PT and RT (film interpretation)
• Familiarity with Risk-Based Inspection programs as well as typical software tools to implement them

The anticipated salary range for this position is $94,960 - $130,570. The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
