The Raw Material Administrator is responsible for analyzing production plans, maintaining appropriate inventories, and purchasing and receiving raw materials at the Morris site. This includes raw material use forecasting, issuing purchase orders, consumption reporting, inventory reporting, scheduling deliveries, completing receipt paperwork for raw materials, and compiling/retaining supporting documentation.
A Day in the Life
To effectively perform the duties of this position, the individual must:
• Possess general knowledge and understanding of plant operations, products, ISO quality systems, raw materials utilized at the plant site, and accounting and site procedures.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office products and SAP within the areas of inventory, materials management, purchasing, and production and inventory planning.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills with stakeholders.
• Exhibit strong attention to detail to avoid production or quality impacts.
• Maintain accurate record keeping to ensure internal and external audit compliance.
• Work independently and be self-directed.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Monitor and analyze production plans daily to determine future raw material needs.
• Purchase site raw materials. Purchasing activities include the use of supplier outline agreements or issuing requisitions for materials without supplier outline agreements.
• Manage inbound schedule of ordered materials in accordance with bulk and warehouse space capacity limits. Coordinate the shipment of raw materials/chemicals and ensure timely delivery to meet changing production schedules.
• Reconcile physical month end inventories of raw materials and complete SAP adjustments. Participate in the annual physical inventory audit.
• Interact directly with internal customers and suppliers to ensure inventory requirements are achieved.
• Conduct quality review of certificates of analysis for compliance with site specifications for chemicals, catalysts, and additives.
• Participate in customer and supplier audits as required.
• Resolve SAP invoice issues for raw material purchases. Work with Procurement, Disbursements, and suppliers to clear any discrepancies concerning price, receipts, credit, demurrage, and freight.
• Consult with warehouse and tank car offloading employees to ensure materials are rotated from the warehouse to production by practicing FIFO (first in, first out) requirements, scrapped when contaminated or damaged, and returned for credit if no longer used.
• Ensure timely return of shipping containers to avoid unnecessary demurrage.
• Document vendor performance and quality of raw materials.
• Actively participate in site safety programs
You Bring This Value
Min. Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years’ experience in a plant operations environment with specific experience in warehouse, shipping, logistics or vendor relations preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and SAP.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to successfully interact in a team environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety.
• Ability to multi-task and pay attention to details in a fast-paced work environment.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of raw materials management, purchasing, and Production Planning for Process Industries (PPPI)
• Chemical industry experience
