Basic Function

Responsible for “cradle to grave” support of PP compounded resins for use in automotive applications.  Key skills include:  problem solving, communication, supplier/raw material developments, organization ability, multitasking, and responsiveness.   Candidate must have ability to relate fundamental polymer or mechanical concepts to resolve material related problems.

Develop and support all technical activities related to creation and approval of Polypropylene (PP) Compounds for the North America automotive compounding business. 

Roles & Responsibilities

Main Job accountabilities:
- Manage all activities involving existing PP Compounds new development (product design, scales-up, commercialization, quality plan, and product stewardship)
1.    Develop new PP Compounds for automotive applications
2.    Support commercialization of PP Compounds (quality, manufacturing, and OEM approvals)
3.    Manage specific set of raw materials, work with raw material suppliers to expand product capabilities, develop best practice technologies and communicate with technology team.
4.    Act as technical focal point at customer and OEM representing product and company
5.    Follow HSE and safety guidelines
6.    Address customer problems as related to materials

Min. Qualifications

Required experience:
1.    Polymer blending and/or compounding processes
2.    Polymer characterization methods and interpretation of data
3.    Injection molding of polymers
4.    Understanding of polymer additive
5.    Understanding of polymer reinforcements
6.    Understanding of polymer impact modifiers
7.    Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office 

Education:  Minimum requirement is a Bachelor degree in areas including Polymers, Material science, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.  MS or PhD degree is preferred.
Experience:  Minimum requirement is entry level based on the education requirement outlined above.  Preferred is 1-5 years working experience with Polymers or Polymer Compound development and/or support preferably in the Automotive Market with a basic understanding of automotive OEM approval processes or automotive quality systems and procedures.
