This position assists maintenance resources within the Maintenance Department, with responsibility to assist all direct and support maintenance resources to provide the most cost-effective, fully integrated schedule that optimizes plant reliability and maintenance expense. This role assists the Maintenance Supervisor by coordinating activities between maintenance, contractors, and operations, scheduling all plant maintenance activities on a weekly and daily basis as well as providing maintenance technicians with forecasting of upcoming activities. This position assists with the management of all aspects of maintenance support to realize improvements in maintenance efficiency, including enhancements to SAP, management of maintenance inventories, and implementation of new maintenance requirements. Responsibilities include proactively improving production and maintenance performance and supporting their team while respecting the company’s values and strategic pillars.

A Day in the Life

The Maintenance Utility Technician ensures that a safe working environment is maintained through regularly scheduled safety observations, completion and review of safety incident reports (near miss, accident, or incident) for proper corrective and preventive actions, and training designed to increase safety.  Similarly ensures that operations are carried out in accordance with the documented Environmental Management System and ISO14001.
    • Maintain maintenance operations in accordance with HSE procedures and Operations procedures and work instructions.
    • Assist Maintenance Supervisor to develop the maintenance team in HSE management principles and play a key role in improving HSE performance and establishing and controlling safe working practices. 
    • Assist in the implementation of specific HSE tactical plans in the maintenance area. Ensure maintenance technicians are utilizing proper PPE etc.
The Maintenance Utility Technician will assist in the issuing of daily and weekly maintenance work schedules and monthly activity forecasts.  
    • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse set of cross functional groups.
    • Attend Weekly Work Order Review Meetings.
    • Attend regularly scheduled Capital Review Meetings
    • Review plant KPI’s involving Maintenance/Reliability 
    • Document and Record all activities via SAP.
    • Anticipate potential problems to avoid production downtime.
    • Perform Root Cause Analysis and determine/implement Corrective Actions. 
The Maintenance Utility Technician will assist with preventive, predictive maintenance and scheduled repairs/overhauls to ensure optimum production and utilization levels. This is accomplished through the effective management of equipment and manpower.
    • Assist Maintenance Supervisor with daily production reporting, reasons for deviations and actions. 
    • Assist Maintenance Supervisor with daily staffing requirements and activities for team members. 
    • Assist Maintenance Supervisor achieve PM/PdM schedule accuracy and accurate completion of all work orders. 
    • Supports maintenance performance that achieves OEE target. 
    • Manage Problem Solving and corrective action in continuous performance improvements.
    • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent process failures.
    • Ensure completion of work orders in a timely fashion and ensuring jobs are completed right the first time. 
    • Evaluate team members and give feedback of performance regularly.

A High School Diploma or the GED equivalent is required.  
Served in S4 maintenance level role for minimum of two years. Must understand JKO’s production/maintenance processes.

To effectively perform the functions of this position, the individual must have a degree of credibility with both operations and maintenance personnel and be able to effectively coordinate with all organizational and functional levels. 
The individual must be highly experienced in the maintenance and project processes, including planning, scheduling, and execution. 
The individual must have excellent job planning skills and be able to understand and utilize Critical Path Methodology (CPM) to evaluate and optimize job plans for execution feasibility. 
Sound verbal and written communication skills are absolute requirements, and the individual must possess effective people skills, as this position will be required to interface daily with all organizational and functional levels. 
The individual must possess effective time management, leadership, and decision-making abilities; and be skilled at negotiating conflict resolution in a positive, clear, and effective way.
