Utilities Buyer

Basic Function

LyondellBasell’s Global Procurement group facilitates supply solutions globally for LyondellBasell. We manage supplier relationships in order to provide value to our internal customers in the acquisition of materials, services, and utilities.
 
The primary function of the Utilities Buyer is to facilitate the supply and optimization of utilities for the North American manufacturing facilities, including industrial gases and water. This position is located at our North American Headquarters in Downtown Houston and reports to the Utilities Procurement Manager. Roles & Responsibilities

• Facilitate contract administration for the Utilities group.
• Process sales invoices, including price and volume verification.  Elevate invoice discrepancies to Category Managers and assist in resolving differences.
• Enter utilities and industrial gas purchase / sale information (quantity, price, etc.) into SAP to capture relevant information for accounting, invoicing and distribution.  Process and retain paperwork as necessary.
• Complete required monthly close transactions, including calculation of monthly accruals and other specific calculations as required in various contractual agreements.
• Manage invoice resolution for billing discrepancies resulting in blocked invoices.
• Coordinate the set up and management of master data for Utilities group.
• Serve as the focal point for inquiries related to utility and industrial gas commodity purchases and sales.
• Maintain Utilities spend database to facilitate managing and optimizing utility supply.

Min. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related discipline preferred. 8 years of relevant experience required in lieu of a degree.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience required with a degree.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required. Extensive Excel abilities strongly desired.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with suppliers, plant personnel, accounting, and other internal functional groups in both a written and verbal manner.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working within SAP
• Knowledge and experience working with Ariba
• Prior experience administering contracts
• Prior experience with invoice coding, particularly within SAP
• Familiarity with the accounting process
