BASIC FUNCTION:

The Manager, Trade Compliance Americas is a regional leadership position within the Global Business Processes & Systems Solutions (BPSS) organization reporting under the Global Supply Chain. This position is responsible for all International Trade Compliance and Customs related matters for all business units of the company for the Americas Regions. This role works closely with the Business, Finance and Legal Compliance departments.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Accountable for compliance of LYB Americas for all trade compliance and customs related legislation including managing actions for appropriate changes within LYB. This includes working closely with Legal Compliance to ensure LYB compliance with all Trade Regulations.
  2. Responsible for the company import and export processes which include Export, Import, Foreign Trade Zone, Free Trade Agreements, Duty Drawback and related vendor contract operations (Brokers, Freight Forwarder and Duty Drawback Agent).
  3. Serve as primary interface with Business, Sales, Supply Chain and Customers to understand changes in their businesses and the impact it has on customs and trade compliance matters and provide them with oversight and direction related to these matters.
  4. Maintain LYB’s Importers Self-Assessment (ISA) certification and support LYB’s Customs Trade Partnership against Terrorism (CTPAT) certification.
  5. Provide cooperative teaming with the various LYB organization to ensure all shipments arrive timely with our customers.
  6. Act as a focal point for Americas customs audits by customs authorities and internal audit. This involves research of contested issues, coming up with resolutions to customs assessments levied by customs authorities and ensuring timely and compliant filings with governmental authorities.
  7. Support the design of uniform global processes and procedures and use innovative technology solutions to automate and streamline processes.
  8. In line with DOA approval process, review contracts and advice preferred customs clauses.
  9. Lead the team by proving oversight, support, alignment and training to ensure a successful integration and working together of the various roles.
  10. Proactively seek out strategic trade compliance and customs planning opportunities to reduce costs and gain opportunities. This requires alignment with global tax colleagues and other corporate functions to identify, evaluate and implement value adding projects.

 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

 

Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required with Supply Chain Management, Fiscal / Economics, Tax Law or related discipline preferred.
  2. Master of Business Administration preferred.

 

Work Experience:

  1. Minimum of 10 years business experience in Supply Chain / Trade Compliance, (Indirect) Tax or related experience.
  2. Managerial / supervisor experience required with demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop a professional work force accomplishing differential results.
  3. Understanding of the business, supply chain and Tax processes within the Petrochemicals business model, highly desirable. Experience in a global, dynamic and deadline driven environment.
