Basic Function

Owns and administers the global work processes for assuring suppliers have both the technical ability and quality programs to meet LYB requirements. Leads or gives direction to LyondellBasell audit teams to assess technical material and service providers. Ensures resulting output is appropriately integrated into the Global Approved Provider System (GAPS) to support Manufacturing, Procurement and Capital Projects.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

General

  • Lead the Provider Qualification Program on a worldwide basis
  • Execute or direct the preparation and assembly of audit reports and close out reports including closure of findings, range of qualification, restrictions, a Provider Rating, and recommendations to stakeholder leaders
  • Support development and monitor implementation of relevant QA Standards, Engineering Standards, Work Processes and Procedures
  • Assist in the implementation / maintenance of the Global Approved Provider System globally
  • Effectively direct the actions of remote auditing teams (internal or contracted) to execute audits within the established framework

Area of Expertise, Requirements

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly processes and accompanying industry standards (AISC, AGMA, ASME, ANSI, API, NBIC, PED, etc.).
  • QA / QC Management, Process Procedure and Work Instruction Systems
  • Certified or qualified for certification as a lead auditor by an internationally recognized ISO 9001 certification board such as ASQ or IRCA.

Min. Qualifications

Education

  • A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical/Materials Engineering or equivalent relevant technical discipline
  • Previous NDE Certifications (Level II) is a plus

Work Experience

  • The individual should have at least 10 years of relevant experience and possess a general knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) as it applies to the engineering, procurement, and construction within the Petrochemical, Refining, and/or adjacent Supplier/Manufacturing industries
  • Experience in quality system oversight or auditing is essential
  • Previous QA supervisory or management experience with demonstrated skills in directing technical personnel is also a plus

  • English, additional language proficiency is desirable

  • Willingness to be trained and qualified as Lead Auditor and later a Certified Lead Auditor is required
  • Self-motivated with the ability to build relationships within and outside the organization and company
  • Excellent organizational , communication (verbal/written), interpersonal relationship development and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrate basic leadership skills in facilitating multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to gain credibility quickly with others at all levels of an organization
  • Desire to learn quality assurance and quality control principles, concepts, tools, and industry standards
  • Ability to learn and take direction from more experienced engineers
  • Ability to operate a desktop PC and working knowledge of business software
  • Possess leadership skills in facilitating multi-disciplinary teams
  • Self-motivated, initiating contacts within and outside the organization and the company
  • Possess ability to gain credibility quickly with others and leads others toward goal alignment and achievement
