Basic Function

The Strategic Relationship Manager is responsible for the global transformation of strategic supplier business models and collaborative relationships via the Advancing Strategic Potential (ASP) process to enable more than $100mil in ACP value.

This position is a key member of the relationship development team and plays a critical role in achieving success for the ASP engagements assigned. Under the direction of the Senior Procurement Manager, this position is responsible for large-scale projects with global impact, significant complexity, and unique requirements.  A high degree of cross-functional business integration and alignment at the C-suite is required to ensure that multi-year collaborative commitments between LYB and the identified suppliers are implemented.   

This role will be responsible for ASP activities to drive long term value and innovation across the end-to-end value chain and champion opportunities that support the most strategic company aspirations. This role acts as the liaison between the function, business and the supplier, and is responsible for the project management of engagements to ensure internal alignment, supplier engagement, solutioning, agreement development and implementation. 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assigned ASP engagements and will act as the liaison between Procurement, Manufacturing, Commercial, or the Functions to develop supplier engagements utilizing a Performance Based or Vested Approach.  
  • Responsible for full ASP life cycle activities including business model mapping, co-developing the shared vision, desired outcomes, requirements roadmap, performance management plan, pricing model, governance framework, and contract execution for the ASP engagement.
  • Proactively build internal and external relationships and identify change management actions, discuss risks, collaborate on interdependencies, and understand different stakeholder perspectives, goals, and resources to deliver a successful cross-functional ASP engagement.  Advocate for each stakeholder to ensure that the optimal outcome occurs (performance based or vested business model).  
  • Institutionalize ASP process within the Global Procurement function and more broadly in the company via Operational Excellence preferred practices
  • Develop, maintain and update the project plan and backlog in ADO and provide weekly status updates to the Senior Procurement Manager.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings and workshops with key stakeholder groups to gain internal alignment and progress the project as scheduled.
  • Anticipate roadblocks and proactively addresses issues before they impact the ASP engagement, perform root cause analysis where needed.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and key process participants to ensure highly effective business processes are in place.
  • Optimize results and meet customer requirements to maximize solutioning.
  • Ensure governance, and execution of ASP activities occur. 
  • Identify gaps and supplier development opportunities within the category.
  • Approximately 10-15% travel may be required

Min. Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with the execution of agile practices using Scrum or Kanban.
  • 3+ years of previous agile project management experience involving client-facing engagements and stakeholder management.
  • Proven facilitation and communication skills to nurture relationships with cross-functional teams, experience with people management is a plus.
  • Experience in the use of a variety of business analysis tools and techniques to aid in the breakdown of large chunks of work, elicit requirements, or make decisions.
  • Experience and knowledge related to organizational change management, and project leadership.
  • Ability to apply Agile practices and principals and provide guidance for the key stakeholders and suppliers in the definition of vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Experience with project management tools, Azure preferred. 
  • Strong Emotional Intelligence and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence without positional authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Technical or Business related positions preferred
