The Worldwide Tax group at LyondellBasell is a collection of over 70 dynamic individuals located in multiple countries that work diligently to comply with our Company’s regulatory requirements and enhance shareholder value. Globally, we consist of U.S. federal, state tax, and non-U.S. compliance, Global tax accounting for both U.S. GAAP and IFRS tax reporting processes as well as Global tax planning teams. We are also heavily focused on enhancements and process efficiencies through tax technology and have a group of tax technology professionals.  Our group operates on a hybrid work schedule with the ability to work remotely 3 days per week.  We have a Core Collaboration day across Finance on Wednesdays with other office days at each team member’s discretion. 

 

The Senior Tax Analyst for our Global US GAAP Tax Reporting group will contribute significantly to the tax reporting function by assisting in the preparation of the quarterly and annual US GAAP global tax reporting process. This position will also collaborate with members of our Non-US Tax Reporting team as well as local country tax teams.

Day in the Life:

  • Assist with preparation of quarterly and year-end tax provision schedules for domestic, local country, and worldwide provision under the principles of ASC 740, including, but not limited to: 
  • Assist in preparation of worldwide current and deferred tax calculation; 
  • Preparation of required footnotes and disclosures; 
  • Assist in preparation of FIN 48 calculation and workpapers.
  • Assist in the preparation of effective tax rate analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly tax account roll forwards and reconciliation schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly cash tax and effective tax rate projections.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly tax journal entries.
  • Assist in writing clear and concise technical memorandum supporting tax issues.
  • Superuser for the Tax Reporting team with respect to Alteryx technology including maintaining existing work flows as well as learning to design/build new processes using this technology.
  • Proactively identify tax and accounting issues with suggestions for possible solutions for improvement. 
  • Provide integral support and perspective to cross-team special projects and process improvement initiatives. 

You bring this Value:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • CPA or Master’s degree is not required but preferred.  

Work Experience 

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant and accretive work experience with a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department. 

Other skills

  • Basic knowledge of tax accounting concepts and tax technical and research skills preferred.
  • General knowledge of federal income tax principles, as well as standard corporate book/tax differences.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to efficiently work against deadlines and to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong background/experience using MS Excel.
  • OneSource Tax Provision experience preferred.
  • Strong technical skills with accounting systems, SAP/OneStream experience is a plus.
  • Alteryx and/or Power BI experience is an advantage.
