Basic Function

The network at LyondellBasell (LYB) is the foundation of all other services that IT provides and is critical to the success of our business.  The Network Engineer position is part of our Global Network Operations team that envisions, implements and supports our data, voice and video network infrastructure.  LYB has traditionally been a 100% Cisco Network Platform.  With additional emphasis on wireless coverage at all facilities, LYB will be utilizing more of a fully managed service approach in the future with a full Aruba Network Platform.  This new network operations resources will play an instrumental role of this transformation.
 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Install, configure and maintain Local Area Network and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) and wireless infrastructure in a multi-vendor environment, including but not limited to: Cisco and Aruba routers, switches, access points, and wireless controllers/Gateways.  Heavy emphasis on Aruba Network Infrastructure and the interface to the existing legacy Cisco environment
  • Stay up-to-date on current technologies, serve as technology consultant, and make recommendations based on knowledge and research.
  • Work on unusually complex problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative.
  • Implement network solutions based on analysis of technical and capacity requirements.
  • Perform capacity management, planning and reporting related to network infrastructure and bandwidth.
  • Perform complex implementation tasks.

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • Network certification (CCNA) or equivalent experience, Aruba Wireless Certifications (ACMA, ACMP, ACMX) a plus.
  • Heavy vendor relations management experience and proven techniques a must for continued support and vendor oversight related to a fully network infrastructure service model approach
  • Experience with Aruba Hardware to include various Aruba Wireless Access Points, Wireless Gateways, CX Switches along with Aruba Software packages to include Aruba Central, Aruba ClearPass and Aruba Airwave
  • Firm understanding of network equipment installation and cabling requirement for both interior and exterior (Copper and Fiber) low voltage cabling.  
  • Requirements and experience in very large manufacturing type facilities a plus.
  • Data network design focusing on redundancy and resiliency
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work in a global, multi-site environment.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in TCP/IP, MPLS, SD WAN, routing (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP), switching and wireless area network technologies.  Cellular technology a plus. 
  • Experience with application and performance monitoring
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills a must
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with vendors, customers and across various LYB team members from IT, Manufacturing, Operations, Procurement, Safety and Finance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a highly complex and very large environment
