Basic Function

 

This position is responsible for managing strategy, processes, and planning to support a broad program and portfolio of Commercial (O&P, I&D, APS) technology initiatives for the Business Interface organization. 

This position reports to the Sr. Director, Business Interface - Commercial (O&P, I&D, APS) and is a key member of the Digital Technology (DT) Business Interface to the O&P, I&D, and APS commercial organizations. Position is responsible for aligning DT Business Segment strategies, establishing DT/Business Resource Center, and institutes performance KPI metrics to ensure a high quality of project delivery processes across the Business Interface Portfolio; and value generation principles consistent with business strategy, investment costs, compliance with company standards/governance, and in line with annual agreed budgets. Role acts as Chief of Staff to the BI Sr. Director with supporting team. 

 

Chief of Staff - Direct support to Sr. Director as strategic partner, Chief of Staff, and Strategic Planning for Commercial (O&P, I&D, APS) Business Interface Organization. 

 

  • Strategy & Roadmap - Lead the development of DT Strategy and Roadmap evergreen processes, practices, and principles to support multiple Global Business Segments. Lead collaboration among BI Business Segment Directors to drive a consistent approach to a common structure for Commercial Segment DT Strategies and Roadmaps to support the Business Strategy.  
  • DT/Business Resource Center - Create, maintain, and grow a DT/Business Resource Center for the Commercial Organization to utilize for new project process, demand management, and visibility of how business interfaces with DT processes. Resource Center provides a strategic common tool for BI Directors to interface with the O&P, I&D, and APS organizations. 
  • KPI and Metrics - Development for the Commercial (O&P, I&D, APS) Business Interface Directors to collaborate effectively with the relevant business units to develop and maintain, with a goal of clear spend and value visibility. This person will be an advisor to the Directors and Managers assigned to each app and business unit. Metrics and KPI to be developed and governed to ensure effective demand management and project success.
  • Financial Performance Plan – Responsible for Business Interface organization Financial Performance Plan including apps and services.
  • License Utilization and Visibility – Responsible visibility and process for BI Directors/Managers to drive efficient use of licenses vs utilization. 
  • VEP DT Alignment – Responsible for understanding scope of VEP DT projects and acts as a trusted advisor to provide guidance, consistency, and accountability, to ensure VEP priorities are in line with Demand Management prioritization process.  
  • Business Interface Directors Interface - High collaboration with Business Interface Directors for O&P, I&D, and APS to support all strategic aspects for Business Interface with the Commercial organizations. 

 

This role will work closely reporting to the Sr. Director, Business Interface - Commercial (O&P, I&D, APS) to establish processes for the organization to efficiently and effectively manage demand, support decision-making analysis, and act as a thought partner who considers the needs of the whole enterprise, while ensuring and implementing effective governance.
 

Roles & Responsibilities


 

  • Plays a key role driving the Enterprise Digital Transformation Strategy and Execution as a member of the Digital Transformation Leadership team.
  • Leads Digital Technology Business Interface Strategy and Process Management. Establishes processes to ensure coordination across of all aspects of BI processes upstream, downstream, and within the organization. Business Interface Directors to implement and manage.
  • Provides oversight and leadership for key Digital Transformation processes across the BI organization, with a specific responsibility to manage the transformation activities within this program of work.
  • Provides strategic process leadership to the Business Interface organization.
  • Marshals necessary resources to deliver exceptional execution and scale up of BI processes, tools, and applications for the management of the BI - Commercial domain. 
  • Partners with Business Analysts organization within the BI – Commercial organization to leads process improvements related to the delivery of project management processes.
  • Establishes, tracks and reports progress in implementation and adoption and actual value delivered through DT project execution. 
  • Maintains a close relationship with the Director Digital Transformation and Planning  to ensure a holistic DT view of project portfolio planning, budget process, and resource needs. 
  • Maintains an innovation perspective regarding strategy, processes, and planning.  Prepares portfolio reviews  to meet BI needs for visibility and clarity of current portfolio for Executive briefing and strategic alignment.
  • Coordinates and consolidates processes to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Accountable for the portfolio management of external vendors in terms of visibility of agreements, understanding of expiration terms, requirements and assessment from business analysts to ensure portfolio of application and service agreements is managed in accordance to the BI units needs. Works with Procurement to provide strategic direction. 
  • Drives the process for post implementation reviews, properly implemented and applied to new projects and programs.
  • Ensures that clear roles & responsibilities are defined, agreed, and maintained within the DT BI organization as interfaces with the commercial organization and the DT Supply/Resource organization.
  • Ensures a project process for portfolio delivery of projects within the expected quality, budget, timeline, and scope.
  • Participates in portfolio review meetings and provides independent assessment on the portfolio’s overall process health and status.
  • Provides broad BI Digital process management knowledge and expertise.
  • Provides leadership on processes that have significant issues and provide active support when needed.
  • Drives accuracy in portfolio financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Ensures that project management strategy and development lifecycle process is followed and makes improvements.
  • Drives standardization and proactively recommends improvements.
  • Cultivates high morale, teamwork, and effective empowerment as main goals for achieving productivity, advocate for DEI within the organization with active participation in networks and programs encouraged in the team.
  • Champion of Agile methodologies.

Min. Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study (for example engineering, science, computer science, business, supply chain.) 
  • 10-15 years total work experience of which, 10 + years of proven experience in managing complex organizational or commercial processes and engagements in cross territorial, international and/or global context in the Manufacturing, Petrochemical, Energy / Oil and Gas industries, meeting budget and time constraints in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence at senior levels across organizational and functional boundaries and to coach and develop professional staff.

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Proven experience managing strategic and highly complex digital/IT, supply chain, or commercial projects from proof of concept to global scale out and deployment.
  • Experience in deploying cross functional process improvements at scale in a commercial environment and utilizes Digital Technology to increase the effectiveness of business processes and decision making. 
  • 4+ years managing professionals, broad portfolio of projects and/or initiatives with a cross functional reach, with responsibilities that included day-to-day management, professional development, and coaching and mentoring.
