Basic Function

The Senior Manager, Human Resources Project Management Office (PMO) works with HR leadership and its COE’s to define and develop HR project management best practices to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and goals. Collaborates with other global business services to align PMO methodologies across organization.  Leads a team of HR Project Managers to ensures that project management standards, templates, processes and procedures are in place and executed in compliance of appropriate standards and governance to ensure a successful project delivery. Ensures quality performance and realistic status reporting for their area.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of HR Project Managers to provide strategic planning and management including driving analysis and ROI for projects when applicable, budget creation, and tracking. Identifies priority initiatives required to effectively execute the organization’s strategy.  Responsible for measuring and driving improvement across key processes within HR and prioritizes the allocation of resources and capital.
  • Responsible for all HR projects to meet the needs of the business, as outlined in the business case and articulated by the steering committee. 
  • Accountable for sourcing, maintaining and managing competent and high quality internal and external resources. 
  • Works closely with and manages external vendors in terms of Statement of Work (SOW) and engagement requirements, ensuring all vendor management quality expectations are met or exceeded. 
  • Conducts audits and assessments to determine the effectiveness of system in-place. Helps the regional functions in the development of gap closure plans. Prioritizes initiatives and function-specific action items.
  • Coaches and mentors HR project team members; leads training strategy for other HR staff to build project management capabilities. 
  • Works closely with business and HR COE’s, serving as an expert project manager resource. 
  • Works with HR leadership and project teams to manage project scope, communications, risk and issue resolution; Provides post-implementation analysis, knowledge transfer to end-user; and makes recommendations for process improvements. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that the project can deliver the benefits outlined in the business case and that it meets the reasonable expectations of end users. 
  • Ensures that organizational processes follow the Company’s global internal controls framework  in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements and in compliance with requirements set out by the Company’s functional governance leadership. 


  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, finance, information systems, business administration or related field.
  • 10+ plus years of relevant experience.
  • Deep understanding and experience in creating quality project artifacts that adhere to PMO standards.
  • Previous experience in leading teams and managing large, global complex projects (preferably other project managers).
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and functions. 
  • Proven track record of successful implementation of projects using industry standard methodologies.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficient and accurate with various software, including but not limited to MS Project; Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint in creating complex spreadsheets using formulas, macros and defining output to meet specific needs. 
  • Demonstrated executive presence and influence, ability to build client relationships and create client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. 
  • Ability to comprehend technical discussions and challenge assumptions and plans. 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. 
  • Ability to interact effectively with all people, including senior leadership. 
  • Mastery of the “soft skills” in creating a collaborative, positive team environment. 
  • Successful experience in managing third-party implementation partners to agreed-upon SOW.
  • Comprehension that HR is a service to the company at large and thus ownership of delivering value to the business. 
  • Project Management certification (preferred).
  • Industry Standard Certifications such as Change Management, Six Sigma (preferred).
