The Senior Manager, Business Finance is part of the Intermediate & Derivatives (I&D) Finance and Strategy group and oversees financial analysis, consolidation, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting for the global TBA chain & Styrene businesses (the “Co-products”). This position manages all financial aspects of business performance and works closely with I&D business leaders in highly volatile market environments. Key responsibilities include financial oversight and presentation of the monthly/quarterly/annual consolidated balance sheet, income statement, and business cash flow. The Senior Manager, Business Finance supervises a team that includes one Business Finance Manager for the global Styrene business and one Senior Lead Business Finance Analyst for the TBA chain.
This role serves as a trusted financial advisor to the Senior Director of Co-products and other I&D business leaders, providing strategic financial guidance and insights to support business decision-making. The position regularly interfaces with the EVP of I&D on matters related to the global Co-products business and delivers analysis and reporting for LyondellBasell’s financial performance reviews with the CEO.
The role works closely with the Director of Business Finance, I&D, the VP of Finance and Strategy, and corporate Investor Relations and External Reporting teams to ensure alignment on financial performance and key business initiatives. Success in this position requires strong collaboration across the finance organization, as well as with supply chain, operations planning, and business analysis teams, to drive informed decision-making and business results.
A Day in the Life
- Evaluate the business income statement and Balance sheet as part of the monthly close process to monitor data integrity and investigate any significant anomalies.
- Provide variance analysis of business results versus targets for appropriate periods; prepares short, medium and long-term profitability forecasts.
- Prepare and present internal financial analysis to the Co-Products Business management team.
- Prepare and present Co-Products financial results at monthly Business Review Meeting preparation with the EVP of I&D
- Responsible for providing analysis of the Co-products results used in external performance reporting, including Q and K filings with the SEC. As a result, accuracy and attention to detail are critical.
- Invest in the growth and development of the Co-Products and broader Finance and Strategy team.
- Create an environment where talent develops through effective performance management and talent evaluation, and where individuals are motivated and positioned to realize their full potential.
- Lead/manage projects to improve the reporting processes and accuracy. Ensure that the financial information reported properly captures and reflects business activities.
- Lead further implementation of One Stream/One Finance for the Co-products, continue automation of forecasting/reporting process
- Act as a business partner on strategic analysis and business decision support.
- Lead the completion of annual TBA & Styrene fixed cost responsibility and business budgets.
- Support and participate in company initiatives both inside and outside of the Finance and Strategy department and I&D segment.
You Bring This Value
- Accounting, Finance, or a related business 4-year degree with typically 15 years of professional experience, including 8+ years of relevant financial experience; alternatively, 20 years of professional experience without a degree.
- Master’s degree and/or professional certification preferred.
- Knowledge of both US GAAP and IFRS principles.
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen, curiosity for market trends and drivers.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SAP and OneStream.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
- Advanced presentation skills, comfortable speaking in front of a group.
- Ability to influence the business and provide insightful financial analysis to senior management.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and effectively manage key stakeholder expectations (both business and finance).
- Ability to respond quickly to various requests with clear and purposeful explanation.
- A self-starter with the ability to engage with stakeholders and rally support to drive operational and reporting excellence.
- Good team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to build networks, trust, credibility and respect.
