Basic Function

This position supports the implementation and execution of the maintenance and reliability program for LyondellBasell’s 18,000 railcar fleet. This position will work with the railcar maintenance team to understand the existing data systems, and to develop the tools to track, analyze, and report on the LYB’s railcar reliability performance. In addition to railcar reliability, this role will provide the technical expertise during the evaluation of railcar specifications and criteria. This position is responsible for analyzing the railcar maintenance performance against the budget, identifying cost saving opportunities.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supports the implementation and execution of the maintenance and reliability program for LyondellBasell’s railcar fleet.
  • Develops the tools to track, analyze, and report on the LYB’s railcar reliability performance.
  • Manages tank car build specifications for necessary improvements and modifications based on the commodity SDS, railcar part/material engineering improvements, and/or regulatory changes.
  • Responsible for gathering information from supply chain stakeholders with the purpose of providing technical guidance during the on-hire of new railcars and the change of commodity service within the existing fleet. 
  • Manages the compilation of the rail maintenance budget.
  • Responsible for creating a comprehensive view of performance against the rail maintenance budget, providing cost analysis and identifying opportunities.
  • Supports the implementation and execution of the maintenance and reliability program for LyondellBasell’s railcar fleet.
  • Develops the tools to track, analyze, and report on the LYB’s railcar reliability performance.
  • Manages tank car build specifications for necessary improvements and modifications based on the commodity SDS, railcar part/material engineering improvements, and/or regulatory changes.

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelors In Supply Chain or Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment in Technical, Maintenance, or Business related position
  • Demonstrated skills and capabilities in analytical and critical thinking as well as complex problem solving

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Rail industry is desirable
  • Experience and understanding of maintenance programs is desirable
  • Strong business acumen, communication, interpersonal and influence skills
