Basic Function

The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function is responsible for design, implementation and integration of risk management at all levels throughout the enterprise. One of the key work streams of the function is providing dedicated business support to those areas of key strategic importance.  This includes providing independent project risk management support to our Global Project team which undertake a large portfolio of capital investment projects which help shape the future growth of the company. He/she will act as a project risk analyst supporting the Project Risk Manager for our global projects and will also have the opportunity to support the ERM function in the rollout of the wider ERM framework. The role will provide support to the Project Risk Manager and Senior ERM Manager in advising on the design of project risk plans and risk registers, qualitative and quantitative analysis and provide facilitation, guidance and training to project teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Part of your role will also involve updating the risk register to make sure the risks are up to date and that appropriate risk treatment is in place and is acted upon.
  • Providing regular reports to project and risk and value managers will also ensure that the risk statuses of the projects are monitored efficiently.  
  • Supporting the development of Project Risk Management Execution Plans that are right-sized to project needs and meet existing corporate risk expectations/requirements.
  • Facilitate the identification and analysis of risk management on projects throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Carry out qualitative, quantitative assessments to give the best advice to project managers and sponsors on proposed risk-based contingencies.
  • Manage so that projects have a risk register, the risk data is accurate, timely and relevant and that appropriate risk responses are in place and being acted upon.
  • Provide regular reports to project managers on the risk status of projects and provide advice on the management of contingency.
  • Assists in the development of management reporting related to changes in the risk profile.
  • Identify trends and interdependencies throughout projects and facilitate conversations with various functions throughout the company to ensure alignment and consistency in the management of risks.
  • Can confidently explain the value and benefits of risk management to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and capture lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle for projects and turnarounds.
  • Become a champion for key initiatives for advancing internal department goals.
  • Keeps relevant knowledge up-to-date by attending seminars, training sessions, and workshops, as necessary to develop and ensure success of project risk management principles.
  • Trains and ensures all assigned project team members are aware of their responsibilities to understand and manage the key risks within their scope.

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Project discipline or other related field required. Graduate degree strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional environment including significant exposure in an engineering, project controls, or project management related discipline preferably.
  • Basic understanding and application of project management and project controls processes such as scheduling, estimating, change control etc.
  • Experienced and enjoys facilitation.
  • Able to coach and challenge management and non-specialists on the results of risk management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership of the Project Management Institute of similar project management profession e.g. PMI-RMP, PMP, IPMA is highly preferred.
