The P&C, Director of Planning & Strategy is a pivotal role that will be instrumental in shaping and driving the HR strategy, ensuring seamless alignment across our HR Leadership Team (HRLT), and facilitating effective communication throughout the organization. As a strategic partner to the EVP, P&C, you will be instrumental in shaping and evolving our HR function. This role demands a combination of strong leadership, analytical prowess, and exceptional project management skills to achieve excellence in delivering HR programs and initiatives.
Your strategic insights and leadership will be essential in guiding the HRLT to achieve our organizational goals. By fostering collaboration and maintaining a clear focus on our strategic objectives, you will help to create a cohesive and dynamic HR function that supports our business's evolving needs. This includes overseeing the HR budget, managing performance goals, and ensuring timely remediation of audit findings, as well as coordinating global P&C calls, HR Connection events, and quarterly people day agendas. The People & Culture, Director of Planning and Strategy also handles tactical HRLT-related work, prepares key briefing materials, and resolves complex problems to drive HR initiatives that support business outcomes.
This role will report directly to the EVP, People & Culture and will work a hybrid scheduled based out of our Houston headquarters.
Day in the life
The role of the People & Culture, Director of Planning and Strategy is to support the EVP, P&C by helping to define, prioritize, and operationalize the HR strategy. This role partners closely with the LYB HR Leadership Team (HRLT) to ensure alignment across the leadership team relative to key HR initiatives and facilitates communication across the organization.
- Oversight and active management of the overall HR budget, annual performance goals for the function, and enterprise risk management by ensuring audits are responded to and findings are remediated on a timely basis
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the operational rhythm of the HR function, including managing the HR calendar, meeting agendas, action items, pre-read materials and strategic planning processes
- Coordination of monthly global P&C calls and HR Connection events; coordinate quarterly people day agenda and materials with the HRLT
- Communication and Alignment: Facilitate communication and alignment across the HR leadership team and across the organization. Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and reports for key meetings, including HRLT meetings
- Tactical Execution: handle day-to-day tactical HRLT related work as needed, including managing key HR projects, resolving issues, and supporting the HR team with complex problem-solving.
- Align on priorities, and drive HR initiatives that support business outcomes.
- Coordinate within and outside of P&C the resources to develop and submit the P&C portion of any relevant LYB external reporting
You bring this value
- Bachelor's degree required. Undergrade or graduate degree in human resources management or business administration or related field preferred.
- Typically, 10+ years of experience in Human Resources in roles with increasing scope and responsibility. Experience leading people preferred.
- Experience working in an HR related Center of Excellence such as Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Talent Management, Learning & Development, DEI, or HR Operations.
- Strong Project Management experience.
- Experience working in a large, highly matrixed, multinational organization required.
- Preference for those who have lived or worked in countries outside of the U.S. or have driven and delivered large scale global projects.
- Ability to problem solve independently and recommend strategic solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Highly resilient and ability to pivot as needed, based upon evolving business and functional demands.
- Ability to challenge those more senior and receive feedback from all levels across the organization.
- Ability to pragmatically consider alternatives, often in areas that may be new or different than past experience.
- Ability to present to an executive level audience with confidence and impact.
- Ability to manage cross functional leaders and meet tight deadlines through relationships.
- Some domestic and international travel up to 15%.
