Basic Function

This position is part of the “IT/OT Facilities“ organization reporting into Global Service Delivery. The primary role of this position is to provide technical leadership for the operational technology (OT) and Lab environment- The position works closely with the other infrastructure and laboratory group, as well as the application teams to develop, maintain, and improve the OT/ IT and Lab infrastructure of the company. This position requires a broad range of knowledge across multiple OT / IT disciplines (desktop, network, firewall, and security) as well as a broad understanding of business requirement in a lab environment.

As a technical expert, the incumbent participates in the IT/OT technical leadership team as a  member and is considered as the senior SME for IT/OT Lab technology. He/She leads cross division functional teams or projects that affect the global IT/OT Lab long-term goals and objectives within his/her area of expertise. He/she has to provide mentoring and guidance to other employees and manages the relationship with key stakeholders and drives a value-based discussion and improvement prioritization with them

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Strategy
    • Leads the strategy development and manages in setting functional policy and direction
    • Prioritizes the continuous improvement initiatives and tracks the value generation of those initiatives
    • Manages the roadmap development and the alignment with overall product strategy
  • Technology
    • Create, architect, develop, and propose solutions to complex technical, procedural, and compliance type problems.
    • Identify new technologies and work with vendors to develop technology roadmaps for internal implementation.
    • Advise and enforce LyondellBasell’s infrastructure architecture design within OT environments
    • Responsibility for IT lifecycle management and hardware platform selection.
    • Perform risk assessments of OT devices and define actions to mitigate risk.
    • Works on complex problems / projects where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. 
    • Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
    • Provides highly innovative and scalable solutions within the areas of expertise
    • Acts as a Technology Master for the company and manages the technology assessments to create value for LYB
    • Lead and assist in advanced troubleshooting of complex issues that cross multiple domains, applying core knowledge and troubleshooting to lead group to resolution.
    • Use effective measures to respond to infrastructure alerts.
  • Communications
    • Use both verbal and written communication to present technical solutions to the next level in the organization
    • Effectively communicates to lead team members in successful project delivery
    • Facilitates effective communication/collaboration among team members and external partners
    • Educate manufacturing resources on integration into enterprise IT systems
    • Provides coordination across teams to encourage application of standards and adherence to standards based methodologies. 
  • Perform ticket queue monitoring and prioritization.
  • After-hours / weekend work as required.

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline with ten years of increasing responsibility in technical IT or OT roles required. 
  • Ten (10) years of additional experience may be substituted for the degree. 
  • General IT skills across IT disciplines
  • Strong communications, consultative and interpersonal skills, including oral, time-management, written and presentation; teamwork, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation, with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels in both the client, IT and OT.
  • Strong working knowledge of security relevant data, including network protocols, ports and common services, and application layer protocols (e.g., HTTP/S, DNS, FTP, SMTP, etc.).
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Experience with Microsoft server technologies 
  • Experience as an IT administrator (server, network, firewall, or workstation)
  • Experience with patch management systems for Microsoft based systems.
  • Experience with IT infrastructure (computer room, network closet, cabling, power, hardware) 
  • Industry specific certifications a plus (Microsoft, VMWare, ITIL V3)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing experience
  • Experience with Microsoft SCOM and Splunk monitoring and reporting tools
  • Hands on experience scripting in a Windows environment
