Basic Function
The role of Net Zero Strategic Pathways Engineer is an opportunity to apply your ethylene manufacturing and engineering experience to help LYB build a technical strategy and pathways to reach its 2050 Net Zero CO2 ambitions. The role will support the Sr. Manager, Global O&P Net Zero Technology in developing these technical strategy and pathways for the U.S. cracker sites.
In this role you will interface with Net Zero Innovation to evaluate emerging technologies, with Net Zero Programs to conceptualize and develop application of existing technologies, and with the cracker sites for opportunity alignment.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Support the technical development of strategy and pathway options for U.S. cracker net zero goals.
- Technical screening evaluations of the pathways. This includes process evaluations, high level process models and high level economic evaluation.
- Collaborate with the U.S. Intermediates and Derivatives Net Zero Engineer counterpart to assure alignment and to take advantage of synergies between the businesses.
- Liaison with the relevant stakeholders and colleagues (US O&P technical teams, NZ Program team, NZ I&D technology team, Innovation Platforms team, etc.) to develop US O&P emission reduction plans. The activities will mainly focus on 2050 Pathways. However support of shorter term projects on the Roadmaps may also be included.
- Work closely with the Net Zero Program execution team to provide process engineering support for project development.
- Support the Innovation Platforms Net Zero team to evaluate low TRL technology that may integrate into the 2050 pathway.
- Support analysis of enabling technologies that may be required to reach net zero ambitions.
- Support the Net Zero Business Development team with technical evaluations of potential partnerships and commercial opportunities.
- Integration and alignment with support groups to gain alignment on the pathways.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders.
Min. Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of process engineering experience with strong exposure to ethylene cracker technologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Process simulation experience with cracker processes and energy balances.
• Business acumen understanding of screening economic analysis.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
• Cracker manufacturing experience is a strong plus.
• Engineering experience working at a petrochemical manufacturing facility
Competencies
Must be at least 18 years of age and must be legally authorized to work in the United States (US) on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship.
