This position supports interactions with the investment community to elevate and manage a best-in-class investor relations strategy. Position is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of the investor relations program for a global, mega-cap public corporation in collaboration with the Head of Investor Relations.  Assists in managing relationships with institutional investors and analysts in order to accurately and effectively communicate the company’s results, strategy and performance.  Must be comfortable and effective working closely with the company’s executive team, primarily the CEO, CFO and business leadership, to ensure the appropriate two-way understanding of leveraging issues, perspectives and information flow.  Incumbent must be an effective communicator with a strong grasp and understanding of the chemical industry, LyondellBasell’s businesses and strategies as well as financial modeling and analysis.  The position is viewed as a developmental assignment for a rising, high-potential employee who will leverage their acquired knowledge of the investment community in subsequent commercial or staff leadership assignments with the company.

  • High passion, curiosity and capacity for researching, learning and distilling large volumes of financial news, technical data and reports to support insightful financial analysis and reporting.
  • Analytical thinker with proven ability to anticipate and recognize meaningful economic catalysts, simplify complex situations and formulate impactful messages.
  • Independent worker with history of accomplishment in delivering high-quality work product.
  • Able to work effectively alongside both internal and external executives.
  • Must reflect the company’s purpose, commitments and values in both one-on-one and large group settings.
  • Must handle highly confidential information with impeccable ethics and integrity.
  • Analyze the company’s strategy, ESG profile, operating performance and financial position to develop and deliver effective communications for the investment community that result in the fair valuation of the company’s equity and debt securities.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of quarterly earnings reporting, annual reports, SEC filings and other strategic communications.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of investor conferences, roadshows and other events.
  • Comply with public disclosure obligations and all relevant securities laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist in the education of prospective and existing shareholders and analysts to ensure appropriate valuation of the company and respond to their specific inquiries.
  • Assist in gathering and reporting the investment community’s perspectives and input to executive management and the Board.
  • Assist in providing counsel to executive management on competitive intelligence and company decisions that will potentially create or destroy value for shareholders.
  • Assist in elevating the performance and capabilities of the investor relations team through the development of sustainable work processes.
  • Accomplish work through strong relationships with an extended cross-functional team including individuals from Accounting, Communications, Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury and Legal.    

You Bring This Value:

  • Minimum of a bachelor degree, typically in a chemical or financial discipline with an MBA preferred
  • Typically 8 or more years of professional work experience in a combination of disciplines including petrochemical business, planning and financial analysis
  • Strong skills in business modeling and analysis with high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.  Agility in working independently with diverse and evolving software applications including SAP and online databases.
  • High fluency with verbal and written English; other languages are a plus.
  • Up to 10% travel required, primarily within US.
