Basic Function

The Learning Manager will be responsible for the program management and deployment of enterprise training solutions in alignment with the Company’s strategic plans. He/she will partner with their Talent colleagues, global business leaders, and global HR, to successfully develop and deliver high impact learning solutions. 

 


The Learning Manager will report to the Associate Director, Learning & Organizational Development and will oversee the education initiatives and training programs targeted for all employees.  They will interface with external vendor partners, HR business partners, global client groups and business leaders. The Learning Manager will act as a learning consultant to the business and HR to proactively identify learning needs and co-design learning solutions with vendors.  They will also be responsible for self-directed eLearning solutions, and curating relevant content aligned with the enterprise business needs.  

 


This role is responsible for the communication strategy of My Learning initiatives, which includes building awareness of offerings, tailoring messages to the organization, identifying creative ways to promote learning content and fostering a growth mindset.  They will be responsible for monitoring and reporting learning utilization and effectiveness.  In partnership with external vendor(s), the Learning Manager will review end-of-training course evaluations, track trends & themes and make recommendations for improvement as appropriate.  

Roles & Responsibilities

The Learning Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide strategic direction, leadership and execution of enterprise-wide training and development for employees globally.
  • Drive plans and solutions supporting the Learning Strategy across the enterprise. Design and deliver high impact learning solutions to advance employee skills, competencies and capabilities. Program manage learning offerings.
  • Collaborate with the LYB Learning Council leadership to identify learning enhancements and understand business needs. Partner in preparing and facilitating Learning Council meetings.
  • Consult with global business leaders to identify and assess learning needs. Partner on identifying best in class vendors, and provide learning expertise in co-designing program solutions.
  • Partner with DEI Team to identify training needs or activities to further embed inclusive behaviors learned from initial formal DEI training.  Manage sustained DEI learning for all employees.
  • Curate employee driven learning pathways and content. Partner with key stakeholders and Communications to develop, brand and deploy employee-driven learning pathways.
  • Manage ad hoc requests for learning or development interventions, assessing the situation and proposing a solution. 
  • Collaborate and demonstrate influence with outside vendors to design learning offerings. Seek to maximize effectiveness and engagement in learning solutions. 
  • Leverage the Learning Management System and other learning technologies in the delivery of learner-centric solutions, partnering closely with the Learning & Development team. 
  • Design metrics assessing and continually monitoring the training offerings, ensuring sustainability and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for identifying best practices and innovations in learning. Drive continuous improvements to elevate learning solutions and promote learning as a part of talent development.
  • Certification in team effectiveness tools and resources. Partner with leaders to assess, identify and facilitate team effectiveness solutions.
  • Lead the discovery process and support of new teaching and learning platforms, content providers, tools and technologies. Maintain knowledge of new learning approaches, technology, and measurement tools through continuous research to ensure our solutions deliver innovation.

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in learning specialties preferred. 
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in program management.
  • Proven track record in managing vendors and optimizing those relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  Experience with corporate communications.  
  • Knowledge of instructional design theory and practical application. 
  • Experience with program evaluation and measurement.
  • Experience working in a global organization, building and optimizing a variety of programs across diverse teams and cultures. Experience leading cross-functional projects and/or teams. 
  • Ability to think strategically while delivering practical large-scale projects.
  • Effective at building relationships and establishing credibility with key stakeholders, listening to and gathering enterprise-wide feedback. Demonstrates compassion for colleagues across all business functions and levels.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively; self‐motivated and disciplined to meet deadlines in the context of competing priorities and projects.
  • Highly creative and innovative; proven ability to conceptualize and communicate strategies, ideas and business solutions utilizing data and analysis tools. Ability to adapt quickly to changes in the environment to advance goals.
  • Strong program and project management skills, and ability to operationalize and scale programs.

  • Knowledge of current learning systems, technologies, and assessment tools. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Power Point and Learning Management Systems.
  • Some travel necessary, if not located in Houston.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in related field preferred.  Education within psychology, training, human resource management, communications, operational excellence, organizational change management or a related field.
  • Previous HR experience leading or supporting learning systems and processes preferred.
