Basic Function
This position, within Automation Engineering of Global Asset Integrity and Turnarounds (GAIT), is to provide technical expertise and strategic leadership for the safe and reliable design, installation, operation, and maintenance of instrumentation and control. This position is a Global role and requires collaboration with other personnel in GAIT, Manufacturing, Global Projects, and Global Procurement to successfully meet the goals and priorities of GAIT.
Roles & Responsibilities
General:
- Function as technical lead for instrumentation and control on capital projects being executed within LyondellBasell either at the corporate, regional or site level
- Provide engineering design and specifications to support procurement and construction activities for projects.
- Review design drawings, engineering specifications and proposals to ensure conformance with relevant standards and practices.
- Serve as technology expert liaison between project engineers, plant personnel and instrument suppliers.
- Interact with engineers and construction contractors, both on-site and off-site
- Provide instrumentation and control support for Turnaround readiness and scope challenge assessments, and Turnaround execution support.
- Participate in or lead Instrument Technical Network which includes presenting at network meetings and Reliability Forums
- Ownership of Instrument Standards and Excellence Model Documents.
- Provide leadership of key digital initiatives pertaining to instrumentation and control.
- Provide technical consultation and direction to the site instrument engineers.
- Drive continuous improvement of instrumentation and control systems by identifying opportunities through participation in incident investigations, analyzing reliability data and engaging with site engineering.
- Provide training on new as well as existing instrumentation and control topics.

Min. Qualifications
Area of Expertise, Requirements:
- Expertise in design, maintenance and troubleshooting of field instrumentation and control valves.
- Expertise in valve diagnostics.
- Expertise in online asset management tools for instrumentation and valves.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science Engineering degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the petrochemical industry at a manufacturing / production location.
- Leadership experience (preferred)
Languages English, additional language preferred
Other skills:
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills to manage and successfully drive critical global initiatives and interface with and relate complex concepts/issues with all levels.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with internal and external clients.
- Ability to manage multiple/changing priorities and drive for results.
