This is the role:
The IT Category Manager is responsible for developing, deploying, and managing the procurement strategies for Information Technology (IT) commodities and services required to support company operations. IT spend categories include IT Hardware (workstations, servers, storage, multi-functional devices, peripherals, etc), IT Software (infrastructure, ERP, business, security, manufacturing applications, etc), and IT Services (application development, implementation and support, outsourcing for Help Desks, network monitoring, data center operations, telecom expense management, etc).

The IT Category Manager negotiates, executes and maintains multi-year/multi-million-dollar global agreements, and utilizes comprehensive and systemic market analyses for the IT software, hardware and services procured to
drive lowest total cost and maximum value to the company.

The IT Category Manager manages effective internal and external IT client, stakeholder, and supplier relationships up to and including the senior level.  Additionally, the role includes responsibility for strategic supplier relationship management via LYB’s Advancing Strategic Potential (ASP) program aimed at growing supply partner relationships to enable the company’s broadest strategic aspirations.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Executes strategic sourcing tasks following the established processes and sourcing strategy methodology. 
  • Gathers, analyzes, presents and applies market intelligence related both to IT spend categories and IT suppliers to increase market leverage and develop and deploy formal contracting strategies.
  • Works cross-functionally to assess supply risks and develop associated risk mitigation plans.
  • Implements measurement systems that clearly indicate the performance level of the IT sourcing strategy and supplier effectiveness. Maintains focus on added value, lowest total “life cycle” cost and cost savings.
  • Contributes to the development of peers through dialogs, skill gap analysis and on-the-job training.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may direct the work of other staff members.
  • Promotes excellent working relationships with IT stakeholders and other internal supporting organizations.
  • Maintains effective relationships with key IT and business partners as well as strategic IT suppliers.
  • Contributes to the alignment between team performance goals and business drivers.
  • Recognized as a leader and expert in assigned IT spend categories, providing knowledge and expertise within these areas including, but not limited to supplier capabilities, market constraints, and new product offerings.
  • Leads cross-functional teams in implementing programs that are highly-visible and strategic to LYB.
  • Leads change management activities to achieve measurable results from executed IT strategic sourcing strategies within respective IT spend categories.
  • Develops and implements supplier continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for commercial role in large-scale ASP projects with global impact, significant complexity, and unique requirements.  ASP projects require a high degree of cross-functional business integration and alignment to ensure that multi-year collaborative commitments between LYB and strategic suppliers are effectively implemented.

Min. Qualifications

This is what you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master’s degree is preferred (or recognized equivalent).
  • 5+ years related experience required with a degree (IT Procurement, Project Management, IT, Sales or
  • Supply Chain experience)
  • 3+ years of chemical or related industry experience and knowledge related to IT Procurement is preferred
  • Experience in establishing and managing IT spend category strategies
  • Proven facilitation and communication skills to nurture relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to influence without positional authority
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
  • Experience related to organizational change management and project leadership
