Basic Function

The IT Master Data & Data Quality team is responsible for designing, building, and managing digital tools and products which load, profile, and manage the key master data elements at LyondellBasell including Customer, Material, Vendor, Equipment, and Products.  


The IT Product Lead Master Data will play a key part in planning, designing, and implementing digital systems designed to improve the productivity of global LyondellBasell master data teams and the overall data quality at the company.  The role will support critical projects such as the integration of master data from joint ventures and new SAP sites and managing the existing digital solutions including the LYB Data Quality Digital Platform implemented in Azure, API master data integrations, Robotic Process Automation, SAP Data Governance and Data Profiling tools, and Data Quality Digital Scorecards implemented using Power BI. 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the successful delivery of Master Data projects and product backlog items on a regular sprint cadence that support LYB business functions and project teams
  • Develops and implements technology roadmaps for Master Data and Data Quality areas.
  • Is an active practitioner and coach of LYB Advancing90 and Path to Excellence methodologies which are based on agile and lean principles 
  • Coaches and mentors project and product teams, involving both IT and business participants 
  • Prepares project plan, resource and cost estimates and ensures team alignment to the overall IT strategy
  • Manages stakeholders in business and IT, including senior leaders 
  • Collaborates with product team leaders and business process owners for value creation through technology investment
  • Collaborates with resource managers to secure resources required for successful delivery 
  • Collaborates cross-functionally and builds strong, productive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensures that the Master Data and Data Quality product release cycle delivers benefits outlined in the business case and meets reasonable expectations of end users 
  • Facilitates organizational change management; manages risk and issue resolution 
  • Reports into project steering committee or equivalent body; ensures regular status reporting 
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of LYB project delivery by applying lessons learned and external leading best practices for master data management and data quality
  • Manages outsource partners that develop digital solutions & perform support tasks
  • Periodically assists in the resolution of technical problems by managing escalations of critical issues. 
  • Interact with internal IT groups, data engineering and other subject matter experts as key stakeholders in the planning and design of new applications and services
  • Creatively designs master data, data quality, and digital workflow processes utilizing automation technologies that increase business team productivity and reduces expenses.

Min. Qualifications

  • 4-year degree (or higher) in Computer Science, MIS or related field, required
  • A minimum of 8 years in a project management role, managing medium to large global teams
  • A minimum of 10 years of IT and business/industry related experience with large, global organizations
  • Experience in master data management, data quality, data profiling, and/or data & analytics
  • Experience in a master data domain with one or more of the following: Customer, Vendor, Finance, Material, Equipment
  • Experience in implementing projects on the SAP platform
  • Experience in Agile
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organization and coordinate with other business areas
  • Strong presentation and communication skills; negotiation skills to influence stakeholders 
  • Experience working across global teams 
  • Experience in establishing strong business case 
  • Excellent product and project management skills with demonstrated track record
  • Experience with issue resolution and project risk mitigation with a strong commitment to follow standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Master, a plus
  • Experience with the Azure Cloud Platform desired
