IP Paralegal Specialist

Basic Function

A member of the U.S. intellectual property team responsible for patent filing and prosecution among other administration duties.  Experience with trademark filing and prosecution and contract review is also desirable.  This position reports to the Senior Paralegal and works closely with and may receive specific direction from the IP Department attorneys.

Roles & Responsibilities

Contribute to supporting the implementation of the company's overall strategy for the protection of intellectual property including:
•    Interacting with internal and outside IP attorneys and agents to ensure the timely receipt of patent office communications and timely filing of appropriate responses. 
•    Accurately docketing and entering other IP data into relevant databases.
•    Handling patent filing and prosecution (e.g., preparing formal documents, filing applications, prosecution documents, Information Disclosure Statements, formalities, notarization/legalization procedures, interacting with international agents, and e-filing in the USPTO and PCT systems). 
•    Managing patent attorney dockets and maintaining the docketing databases. 
•    Depending upon experience and development, assisting with trademark paralegal duties (docketing, filing, etc.).
•    Depending upon experience and development, assisting with contract review and process management.
•    Handling all other intellectual property administrative activities, including utilizing document management systems to maintain electronic files.
•    Assisting attorneys with other IP administrative matters as needed.

Min. Qualifications

•    A minimum of 4 years of experience related to providing administrative patent docketing support. 
•    Knowledge and experience with U.S. patent prosecution process and procedures. 
•    Knowledge and experience of international filings, PCT procedures and requirements.
•    Trademark knowledge and experience preferred. 
•    High School Diploma (Associates Degree or Bachelor's Preferred).
