Basic Function

In collaboration with manufacturing leadership and the Operating Practices Network, the Global Operating Discipline Manager will drive improvement in operating discipline (OD) across global manufacturing.  The Global Operating Discipline Manager will lead the effort to incorporate best practices into global standards and will use influential leadership to drive the consistent application of OD globally.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities - General

  • Collaborate with key leadership to establish core components of operating discipline.
  • Serve as key member of the Operating Practices Core Team and ensure alignment of activities with Operating Practices Network
  • Assess current state of maturity relative to core components of operating discipline (training, procedures, shift relief, communication, etc.) and drive enterprise-wide efforts to mature integration of core OD components into how work gets done.
  • Lead continual improvement of OD through development and revision of standards, preferred practices and guidelines and incorporation of industry best practices. 
  • Create and implement the digital model supporting the OD maturity model
  • Develop, track and communicate OD Key Performance Indicators to ensure visibility of results and use KPIs to drive continual improvements
  • Align goals of improving operating discipline with Human and Organizational Performance principles.
  • Define OD roles and responsibilities and mentor manufacturing organizations to achieve best in class operating discipline.

Area of Expertise, Requirements

  • Mature understanding of operating discipline and industry best practices
  • Involvement in industry forums related to operating discipline or other areas of manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to lead based on understanding of organizational structure and culture
  • Strong motivation to improve systems and operating performance

Min. Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years in manufacturing
  • 5 years in role(s) directly leading operations
  • Experience supervising both hourly and salaried positions preferred

Languages

  • English, additional language preferred
