Basic Function

This position acts as the Chief of staff to the Global Business Leadership team and reports to the SVP, Global Business Services. This position is responsible for coordinating (executive) level communication of Global business service performance as well as providing the relevant data and information to help drive strategic direction. The position also provides analysis necessary to understand and improve Global business service performance. Serves as the focal point for GBS´s long range planning and strategic opportunity evaluation. Supports processes related to assets, forecasting and the design of the strategic plans to ensure the effective planning, execution, governance, stage gate approvals and value capture of GBS strategic initiatives. Leads team or other project teams to conduct evaluations and make recommendations that support GBS`s strategic decisions. Provides guidance to GBS Leadership Team, often through the process of coordinating a joint work product.

Roles & Responsibilities

•    Responsible for coordination of the GBS staff including preparing and conducting the monthly GBS staff meeting, conducting the GBS townhall meetings and aggregating department responses to corporate requests 
•    Coordinates the accurate and timely development of materials, presented by the Senior Vice President, GBS to the LyondellBasell Management and Supervisory Boards
•    Regularly plans and vets business related GBS`s materials presented to the LYB Leadership Team
•    Responsible for management reporting incl. the GBS business update, STI goal submittal and tracking  
•    Responsible for the planning and development of regularly CEO business reviews for GBS 
•    Responsible for the preparation of annual Budget and Long Range Plan presentation materials  
•    Supports strategic planning and management including driving analysis and ROI for projects, budget creation, and tracking. Helps to identify priority initiatives required to effectively execute the organization’s strategy and for measuring and driving improvement across key process within GBS and prioritizes the allocation of resources and capital
•    Supports to design and deliver capital analysis, such as capital effectiveness, return on invested capital, maintaining value in the capital stage gate progression, and competitive returns produced by the Long Range Plan (LRP). Helps to drives the annual and long-term strategic planning process and manages a balanced scorecard to articulate progress against the strategy, including analysis and the recommendation of actions.
•    Coordinates the full project portfolio and has awareness of the project management lifecycle including project business case through funding, approval, launch, to post-implementation reviews for cost effectiveness and benefit realization
•    Supports ensuring capital governance guidelines and processes are followed. Communicates best practices in project management governance. Provides feedback and leads efforts on new and/or updated capital governance guidelines, protocols, and processes, and communicates any changes.
•    Coordinates benchmarking activities with external consultants as well as internal data gathering
•    Coordinates the GBS strategic target gap closure activities and reviews for consistency prior to submittal 
•    Supports and serves as liaison with other Businesses in terms of strategic initiatives
•    Supports Operational Excellence and other training to regional and centralized personnel. Conducts audits and assessments to determine the effectiveness of system in-place. Helps the regional functions in the development of gap closure plans. Supports to prioritizes initiatives and function-specific action items.
•    Lead projects
•    Responding to ad hoc requests 

Min. Qualifications

1.    Minimum level bachelor, preferably science or engineering 
2.    MBA or master degree strongly preferred. 
3.    Relevant and multi-year work experience may moderate the need for one or both of these requirements 



Work Experience: 
1.    Fifteen years or more of relevant commercial, engineering or IT experience, or planning, evaluation and business analysis experience, or combination of commercial, engineering and planning experience
