LyondellBasell is seeking an experienced Enterprise Risk Manager to join our team in Houston, Texas. The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function is responsible for design, implementation and integration of risk management at all levels of the enterprise. The ERM organization provides framework, methodologies, tools, oversight and controls to improve our business outcomes and meet our strategic objectives.
The Enterprise Risk Manager will act as a business partner to relevant business segments providing facilitation, guidance, oversight and business support on the rollout of LYB's award-winning ERM Program. The role will provide support to the ERM function, in particular working alongside the ERM Director in implementing work streams and activities as part of the medium-to-long term ERM Strategy to create and protect value to the organization.
Day in the Life:
- Collaborate with ERM Director and Senior Manager(s), and other team leaders in the designing and implementing of ERM work streams and frameworks around ERM Core Process, Specialist Support, and Building Risk Management Capabilities.
- Lead the facilitation of periodic meetings with business units and senior managers to help them systematically identify, analyze and evaluate key risks (threats and opportunities)
- Support the ERM Director in ESG, climate risk, and strategic risk initiatives that help improve risk-based decision making related (but not limited) to transactions, acquisitions, investments, divestments and joint ventures.
- Assist in the development of tools, practices, and policies to analyze, manage, and report risks according to the ERM framework.
- Identify trends and interdependencies throughout the business and facilitate conversations with various functions within the company to ensure alignment and consistency in the management of risks.
- Develop and monitor early warning and key risk indicators with business representatives.
- Monitor industry trends and best practices to ensure the identification and management of all types of emerging risks.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and assess emerging risks (threats and opportunities)
- Provide training and guidance to employees on risk management practices and procedures.
- Train teams on how to apply the risk management process in their daily roles so as to inform decision-making and ensure all assigned team members are aware of their responsibilities to understand and manage the key risks within their scope.
- Participate in developing plans with senior managers to manage enterprise risks for various corporate functions
- Work closely with internal audit and compliance functions to ensure that risk management activities are integrated and coordinated
- Periodically monitor and evaluate effectiveness of risk management strategies.
You Bring This Value:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Management or other related field required. Graduate degree strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a professional environment including significant exposure in a risk management discipline (enterprise risk management, risk consulting, or a related field).
- Experience with working in a diverse complex organization is an advantage.
- Experience in probabilistic models, data science, quantitative risk analysis, and ESG is desirable.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles, frameworks, and tools..
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing enterprise risk management programs is desirable.
- Experience in the chemical or petrochemical industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to risk management and compliance is a plus.
- Strong PC skills: Microsoft Office Suit, relevant commercial risk software, and relational database concepts
- Understanding and application of risk management frameworks (i.e. ISO 31000).
- Membership of the Institute of Risk Management or working towards or similar is preferred.
- Certifications in Project Risk Management and/or Business Continuity is desirable but not essential
