Basic Function

The purpose of this position is to support small projects, maintenance, and operations and on reliability improvements with instrumentation, electrical to 480V and analyzers.

Roles & Responsibilities

Participate in the development and execution of the long range plans for electrical systems and electrical components up to 480V, instrumentation, analyzers, and control systems, such as local PLCs, antisurge / speed controllers, vibration monitors, control valves, transmitters, interface to DCS, in the assigned Asset Area, including:
o Developing defect elimination projects including reliability, maintenance cost and process improvements
o Obsolescence and Replacement Management
o Application of corporate and industry standards and procedures

Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance programs for area, ensuring proper testing methods and proper testing frequencies are in place for Critical Instrumentation.  
o Analyze PM data to adjust PM frequency based on record.
o Implement industry best practices into HRO PM procedures

Provide Asset Team support through:
o Guidance to asset team relation to best practices documented in the engineering standards ,procedures, and guidelines
o Assistance to maintenance  in troubleshooting complex jobs and unscheduled events
o Track and report on area bad actors. Work to systematically remove defects in the system.
o Development of TA scope and proactive participation in TA core teams through engineering support
o Leading or participating in PHAs and RCFA teams as required
o Attending weekly ASP meetings in representation of the Instrumentation group
o Monitor and address MOWP Engineering notification

Lead or represent instrumentation department oversight of expense and capital projects
o Generates and/or reviews, and approves instrumentation packages within asset area.
o Works to ensure proper design per engineering standards and guidelines of I&E and control systems.

Support HRO's development of technical competencies by:
o Mentoring less experienced engineers and co-ops, participate in on-boarding process
o Perform discipline specific training to other engineers, discipline craft, and operations


Ensure integrity of engineering records associated with I&E in assigned Asset Team, including: 
o Ensuring correct calibration methods maintained.
o Ensuring data management system (such as SAP, Intools, Engineering Drawings, etc.) remain accurate and are updated in timely manner
o Ensuring proper update MOC practices are followed for all changes

Participate in incident investigation and action item closure process (Impact)
o Completes assigned action items by due date
o Ensures action item(s) efficiently and effectively addresses concerns from Impact items. 

Actively participates in Process Safety Activities
o Manages MOC to safe execution of work flow and timely updates to documentation
Participate in PHA through IPL verification

Min. Qualifications

Minimum 4 years related job experience

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Degree preferred; Bachelor of Science in

Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering will also be considered.


Travel is 15% or less.

Prefer to have knowledge of Emmerson AMS, Bently vibration monitoring, CCC antisurge, Allen Bradley PLCs, Triconex SIS, InTools, Conval sizing
