Basic Function

Reporting to the Head of Strategic Architecture, this role facilitates synchronization and oversight of the technology domains responsible for the development, testing, experimentation integration, and transition of technologies. This cross functional, virtual team consists of certified engineers, subject matter experts, and senior leaders in IT, Cybersecurity, and Digital providing technology strategic planning, education, and additional logistics.  This role is critical to the IT, Digital, and Cybersecurity team and its relationship with executive leadership as a business partner capable of innovating business through the delivery of advanced technology insight.  This role offers a unique opportunity to serve as a key technology advisor and interact with a wide variety of diverse individuals, including technology and business directors, vice presidents, and executive leadership. Candidates for this position must be highly motivated, able to make data-driven decisions, and have strong management and interpersonal skills.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work directly with leadership in areas of strategic planning, recommendations, development and execution
  • Facilitate a virtual team of business focused domain leaders who liaise with departments, understand business needs and coordinate the delivery of technology
  • Organize and manage occasional high visibility functions within the group
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and recommend technology as warranted
  • Ensure alignment of prototypes, projects, capability gaps, and learning demands
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture, specific domain leadership, and subject matter experts to gain concurrence for proposed strategic architectural direction
  • Champion strategic technology direction as it relates to their business strategy significance and future development potential
  • Colaborate with technology teams on the annual investment priority planning process 
  • Execute priorities to completion through agenda setting for weekly meetings, support education initiatives, and identify opportunities to increase IDC team effectiveness
  • Assume duties from the Head of Strategic Architecture as assigned (for example, attend critical meetings on behalf of or alongside Executive Leadership)

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum ten years professional technology-related experience and ten years in supervisory role responsible for large-scale operations, enterprise architecture, consumer product delivery, cybersecurity, and/or technology policy development
  • Ability to understand existing systems and their underlying technology, emerging technologies, and best practices in securely applying procedures, tools and methods.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills for Technical/Non-Technical audiences
  • Strategic planning, operating and capital budget knowledge and experience
  • Managerial problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience delivering a risk-based security management program or solutions based on secure design principles
  • Experience and demonstrated strong understanding of developing technology strategic plans, architectures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree or extensive coursework in technology or business
  • TOGAF, CISSP, or other strategic or secure architecture certification
  • Program Management certification or equivalent training
  • Strong background / experience in Agile based methodologies
  • Understanding of future of technology for the petro-chemical industry
  • Experience in a strategy role, either consulting or in-house
  • 10+ years technology management (or similar) experience 
  • 3+ years of experience with project and program management
  • 3+ years of experience with ETL, databases, data warehousing, and data engineering
  • 3+ years of experience with web applications and service-oriented architecture
  • 3+ years of experience with information security, polices and standards development, or information security management
  • Demonstrated experience in a workplace that values diversity
