Basic Function
The Director, Content & Digital Communications will be a member of the Internal Communications, Brand & Global Corporate Citizenship Leadership Team. This role presents a unique opportunity for a seasoned content marketing professional to drive large-scale impact through B2B content strategy, creation, and digital delivery. We need a creative storytelling leader who can develop unique and compelling content with a digital-first mindset that will engage our target audiences and key stakeholders. This role will drive the content strategy for our organization, collaborating across the Corporate Affairs department and working with a variety of stakeholders across the business, including executives, marketing, sales, and operations. The position is full time hybrid role reporting to the Sr. Director of Internal Communications, Brand & Global Corporate Citizenship.
The Director will have direct management responsibility for a content and digital team. This leader will ensure that our content is optimized for high-impact digital experiences and will engage and grow our audiences across all channels. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and administering communications strategies related to the company’s digital and social media initiatives using best-in-class methods. They will be a subject matter expert for digital communications, creating editorial strategies and content for various LyondellBasell communications platforms, an optimizing current channels.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop a content strategy for LyondellBasell, and deliver against a set suite of content and digital goals
- Maintain and create content for the LyondellBasell online content hub, social media channels, LYB.com, the intranet (Elements) and the My LYB internal employee app
- Create and maintain content calendars for all company channels and lead the organization’s editorial board
- Write and review articles, blogs, social media posts and edit copy using SEO friendly language
- Monitor media channels during a crisis using the Sprinklr tool
- Video creation/production for use on all channels; ideal candidate should not only produce the story but also complete story boarding and generate video concepts
- Periodically review websites and other interactive properties for grammar, syntax as well as recommend content updates
- Be a thought-leader on the team on innovative ways to tell stories
- Experiment with new and alternative ways to leverage social media activities ("marketing R&D")
- Measure ROI of social media engagement, followers and posts
- Keep up with social & digital media trends
- Assist with development of paid social media campaigns and measure results
- Basic knowledge of corporate communications operating within a Public Affairs department
- Assists in the development and execution of communications plans
- Creates content for various communications channels (e.g. Elements, LYB.com, social media and LYB content hub)
- Collaborate with the Corporate Communications team in both content and visual storytelling for LyondellBasell through a broad array of communication assets.
- Contributes to the alignment and information sharing among the Public Affairs team about new messaging, resources, upcoming events/activities, etc.
- Act as a trusted partner for multiple clients, acting as the first line of contact for communications with assigned clients and/or external stakeholders
- Understand the vision of management and clients / external stakeholders
- Serve as a project owner, executing campaigns and projects as assigned with a degree of skill and professionalism
- Possess initiative to think several steps ahead and anticipate needs of clients / stakeholders and management
- Creates and maintains communications resources and toolkits including but not limited to key message documents, power point presentations, and training materials
- Communicates proactively with Public Affairs, business colleagues and functional teams on upcoming communications to ensure awareness and alignment among all stakeholders
- Represents the company with the utmost integrity and abides by the LyondellBasell Code of Conduct
- Reviews documents and language from other functional areas where applicable (e.g., external, marketing communications, internal) for accuracy and consistency
- Actively participates and communications new ideas, innovative methods and/or tools to communications leadership team
- Display ability to understand and implement metrics systems and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to benchmark team progress and success of communications initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with in-house design team to execute creative concepts in alignment with overarching corporate messaging and brand standards
- Attend group and client meetings as requested
- Responsible for responding and/or escalating client / stakeholder requests for support and follow through to close out
Min. Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 15+ years of experience
- Must demonstrate solid interpersonal communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
- Must demonstrate the ability to be detail-oriented and set priorities to meet deadlines
- Displays resilience in tacking opportunities and challenges of the job
- The ideal candidate will have solid collaboration and listening skills and the ability to work within and across functions
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment while maintaining work focus despite challenges or setbacks
- Possess a solution-oriented approach
- Command of AP Style, while displaying strong and efficient writing competencies across digital and print platforms
- Ability to function autonomously while checking in with management regarding agreed upon strategic direction, work progress and any unusual situations
