The Director, Global Business Development Logistics is responsible for providing strategic vision and execution of commercial logistics contracting agreements for pipelines worldwide, reporting through the Integrated Supply, Trading, and Optimization organization. This role ensures the company secures long-term, cost-effective, and reliable logistics infrastructure to support trading and supply operations. The Director will lead negotiations, manage strategic partnerships, and align logistics agreements with corporate objectives, enabling sustainable growth and competitive advantage.
A Day in the Life
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team managing contracting and negotiations for pipeline agreements, including strong partnership for waterborne and termination logistics teams focused on throughput, storage, and transportation contracts.
- Develop long-term vision for commercial logistics contracting, ensuring alignment with trading and supply needs.
- Accountable to ensure long-term agreements are structured to balance cost efficiency, flexibility, and risk management.
- Identify and secure strategic infrastructure partnerships to enhance market access and operational efficiency – in connection with business development.
- Anticipate market trends and regulatory changes impacting logistics agreements.
- Collaborate with trading, supply, and scheduling teams to ensure logistics agreements support commercial strategies.
- Identify and develop opportunities to improve Commercial results through redeployment of existing contracts or expansion of commercial opportunities around logistics agreements.
- Provide input on infrastructure utilization, capacity planning, and optimization opportunities.
- Develop market intelligence on pipeline capacity, pricing, and competitive dynamics.
- Build and maintain external strategic relationships with operators, pipeline companies, regulators, and industry partners.
- Build and maintain internal strategic relationships with internal Strategy and Operations teams to ensure alignment and drive coordination across the company.
You Bring This Value
- 12+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or commercial operations, with significant exposure to pipelines. Experience leading and developing cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or related field.
- Proven success in negotiating and managing long-term logistics agreements.
- Experience in trading and supply integration.
- Financial acumen with ability to model contract economics and risk scenarios.
- Strategic thinker with ability to align logistics agreements to corporate growth objectives.
- Understanding of the broad regulatory frameworks applicable to pipelines.
- Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management skills across cultures and geographies.
- Ability to work cross-functionally at all levels in a matrixed organization to align on strategy and opportunities.
