The Director of Global Safety, IH, Medical and HSES Systems develops and leads the company’s Industrial Hygiene, Medical and Safety management systems, based on operational excellence, to protect employees against any adverse work-related effects, and maintain and improve employees on the job performance.  In addition, this role is responsible for administering all aspects of HSES related IT systems, reporting and analytics. 

This position will closely collaborate and partner with other HSE and non-HSE functions within the company to demonstrate, safeguard and improve the value of the human capital of the company beyond industrial Health and Safety.  This position will serve as the spokesperson on health and safety issues with regulatory authorities, customers, and other external partners.
This position includes support for Line Management, HSE Management, HR and Legal. 

This position is responsible for monitoring regulatory, scientific and industry challenges in occupational, environmental, and public health to participate in development of the Company strategies, procedures and control systems and to ensure regulatory compliance and continual improvement in health and safety.

The position interacts with senior management.  This position will demonstrate the LyondellBasell Industries leadership and competency profile.  Necessity to consistently demonstrate general managerial skills and driving programs that affect the company’s bottom line.

  • Direct the Company’s global industrial hygiene, safety and medical priorities, objectives and targets based on information systems/data
  • Responsible for instilling and maintaining a GoalZERO culture within the organization; Leader of the GoalZERO Steering Team
  • Responsible for Safety Management systems including Life Critical Procedures
  • HSE functional leader on the Crisis Management Team
  • Develop / maintain processes on general worksite efforts, including reporting, performance management, case/disability management, Wellness/Health Promotion management and Fitness for Duty Management. Be the primary contact for all sites and business managers
  • Develop the global comprehensive medical surveillance system for the company
  • Develop the company medical services management structure. Define health and medical minimum standards for on-site medical services or external contractors
  • Define / maintain global reporting requirements, including definition of key performance indicators, to allow regional and global trend and possible business threat/impact analysis; Responsible for the company’s monthly HSE report
  • Responsible for both the global Health Professional network and Safety Best Practices Team
  • Develop / maintain the corporate health communication and information management (coordinates the KX community regarding health management)
  • Responsible for the global Health Risk Assessment program
  • Accountable for the effectiveness of all industrial hygiene activities including hazard communication, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, ergonomics and personal protective equipment. This includes the necessary global IT tools to manage the information
  • Responsible for creating and managing the process for communicating health related information to travelers as well as ensuring mechanism to provide on-going medical support is available to the traveler
  • Responsible for the global Pandemic Preparedness Program and ensuring company readiness
  • Support the audit group in all functional responsibilities
  • Support in all areas of Health and Safety regarding due diligence, joint ventures, and other partners LyondellBasell has managerial control over HSE matters
  • Participate in global and regional company conferences to present health programs, performance and risk analysis
  • Network with other industry leaders and trade unions to ensure the HSE organization is monitoring the activities of and is involved in trade associations, and gain information on IH/OH and medical trends within the industry
  • Responsible for a budget of approximately $9.3MM as well as all Health contracts in the United States

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $229,600.00 - $344,400.00 . The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
