The Consultant, ERLR Excellence will support an assigned business function while partnering with the ERLR Director and ERLR team to develop, standardize, maintain, and improve employee and labor relations processes, procedures, tools, training, and resources. This role will support rollout and adoption across the organization to promote consistency, compliance, and effective execution. This position will triage non-hotline employee complaints, support consistent documentation and case management, and partner with business leaders, Human Resources, Legal, and other stakeholders to strengthen ERLR practices and advance employee and labor relations excellence across the organization. 

A Day in the Life

  • Provides day-to-day ERLR support to an assigned business function, partnering with leaders, Human Resources, Legal, and other stakeholders to address employee relations matters and support consistent practices 
  • Partners with the ERLR team to develop, maintain, and improve the triage process for non-hotline employee complaints, while ensuring appropriate intake, routing, documentation, tracking, and case management. 
  • Partners with the ERLR Director and ERLR team to develop, standardize, maintain, and improve ERLR processes, procedures, tools, templates, and resources to promote consistent and effective execution 
  • Develops and supports ERLR training, job aids, playbooks, and other resources in partnership with the ERLR team to help HR partners and leaders understand and apply ERLR processes consistently 
  • Supports workplace investigations, performance management, policy interpretation, and workplace concern resolution through clear process guidance, documentation, and follow-up 
  • Identifies opportunities to simplify and improve ERLR ways of working and partners with stakeholders to implement practical, sustainable solutions 
  • Reviews ERLR data, trends, and case activity to identify process gaps, training needs, and opportunities for proactive support 
  • Supports rollout, communication, and adoption of ERLR processes, procedures, training, and resources across the organization to help ensure consistent understanding and application 
  • Supports consistent application of company policies, ERLR practices, labor agreements, and applicable employment and labor requirements, with the ability to build labor relations capability over time 
  • Collaborates with HR partners to integrate ERLR guidance into business decisions, organizational changes, performance actions, employee communications, and case documentation 
  • Provides ERLR-related training, coaching, and resources to HR, leaders, and client groups to improve understanding and consistent application of ERLR processes 
  • Maintains current knowledge of LyondellBasell policies, procedures, site guidelines, labor agreements, and applicable employment and labor laws to ensure accurate interpretation and application 
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with business leaders, HR partners, Legal, site leadership, and other stakeholders to support positive employee and labor relations outcomes

  • Ability to influence without authority, drive alignment, and support consistent application of ERLR practices across client groups 
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, facilitation, training, coaching, and interpersonal skills 

 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree with a preference in Business Administration or Human Resources Management 
  • Professional HR Certification preferred (HRCI or SHRM) 

  

Work Experience 

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, HR Operations, HR Compliance, or a related HR discipline 
  • Experience providing employee relations guidance, supporting workplace investigations, advising on performance management, interpreting policies, and resolving workplace concerns 
  • Experience triaging employee complaints, managing intake processes, documenting case activity, and supporting consistent case management practices preferred 
  • Experience developing, maintaining, or improving HR or ERLR processes, procedures, tools, templates, training materials, or resources preferred 
  • Labor relations experience is not required; however, the successful candidate must be willing and able to learn labor relations concepts, processes, and labor agreement interpretation 
  • Preferred experience in the chemical and/or oil and gas industry 

  

Languages 

  • English, additional language preferred 

  

Other skills 

  • Proficiency working independently in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams 
  • Ability to analyze ERLR data, identify trends, and translate insights into process improvements, training needs, and practical recommendations 
  • Experience developing procedures, templates, training materials, job aids, or other resources that support process consistency preferred
