Basic Function

LyondellBasell is seeking a Corporate Communications Intern for a full-time, paid internship during the Summer of 2023. This internship will provide a comprehensive overview of Corporate Communications including with Employee Communications, HR Communications, Global Corporate Citizenship, Digital and Marketing. The Corporate Communications Intern will gain a better understanding of the various Corporate Communications functions and be prepared to apply their classroom knowledge in a real world practical setting.

The opportunity is at our corporate office located at the LyondellBasell Tower in Downtown Houston.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Corporate Communications team with a wide range of projects related to employee communications, media relations, metrics and analytics, social media and employee volunteerism and events
  • Participate in brainstorm sessions, client meetings and department meetings
  • Create engaging content including, but not limited to: articles, blogs, social media posts
  • Contribute to the team's common goals and priorities
  • Communicate in a clear, concise, and organized manner
  • Demonstrate the ability to work well in a team environment

Min. Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Corporate Communications (degrees include communications, public relations, marketing, digital communications or related field)
  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Student Member of PRSSA or AMA a plus but not required

  • Strong desire to learn, along with professional drive
  • Passion for communications and best practices
  • Attention to detail and a creative mind are essential to this role
  • Able to maintain professionalism and prioritize responsibilities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders, including executive leadership and other colleagues
  • Additionally, the individual must be a strong writer and able to effectively influence others in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
