The primary responsibility of the function is to act as the business owner for HSE systems, driving consistent implementation, ensuring efficient and effective usage, and identifying improvement opportunities which help to improve overall HSE performance. This function owns the HSE Systems configuration, works with IT to improve or fix the solution to match the agreed business rules and preferred practices.

This function will coordinate with the global Corporate HSE team to design and develop processes and system enhancements to increase efficiencies within HSE and promote overall safety / regulatory compliance.

This role embraces and drives process thinking and mapping to make the HSE organization lean (no waste) and highly effective.

This role will need to have an in-depth understanding of the diverse HSE streams to assist with system and process development. These streams include Process Safety, Product Safety, Occupational Safety, Medical, Operational Excellence, Quality, Security and Risk Management.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership and direction on daily activities to HSE systems team members
  • Facilitate agreement of changes/additions to the business rules and preferred practices of HSE system usage between all stakeholders, understanding the corporate requirements which require consistency and the possible level of flexibility
  • Define solutions, in cooperation with IT, which are optimal between costs, sustainability, and usability
  • Validate the proper functioning of the solution before implementation (piloting, develop test scripts, testing)
  • Lead HSE IT projects as needed
  • Document the business rules and preferred practices of HSE system usage and create training material
  • Drive the acceptance and good usage of the solution through appropriate change management (training, marketing, communication, …)
  • Gather data, analyze and report on HSE systems to identify trends and leading indicators which help to improve overall HSE performance
  • Keep in frequent contact with client base, understand defects and/or new requirements. Drive closure of defects and facilitate agreement on new requirements between the stakeholders

Min. Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors in chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical science, bioengineer, environmental science, or equivalent technical experience

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years specific functional experience
  • Six Sigma certification in Lean, green or black belt is an advantage
