Basic Function

 

The Business Interface Manager is a senior role within the Digital Technology (DT) Organization and is the primary decision maker for the definition, development, and management of DT products within the business process areas of Engineering, Capital and Turnarounds. The Business Interface Manager is responsible for ensuring DT is aligned with the business by establishing the vision and strategy for DT products and services.  The Business Interface Manager has a deep understanding of how related business processes and technologies work together and insures DT solutions, DT services and projects are aligned appropriately.

 

The Business Interface Manager is a business savvy professional who works closely with functional leaders to increase the business value from DT applications throughout their life cycle.  The Business Interface Manager organizes internal and external resources (across functional lines) in order to achieve the company’s strategic objectives and develop a sustained, integrated vision for the product.  The position is expected to follow technology trends to continually evolve the products and services for greater benefit to the corporation.  The Business Interface Manager will work closely with key DT partners both at the strategic and tactical levels to ensure LYB’s product needs are incorporated into future releases of the solution.

 

The Business Interface Manager must have strong influencing skills and must frequently overcome the status quo or replace legacy applications.  The ability to communicate differential value and a viable transition path is critical to ensure positive change.

Roles & Responsibilities

 

 

This senior level position reports to the Director, Business Interface Advanced Manufacturing and will be responsible for establishing and directing the global DT direction for Engineering, Capital and Turnarounds.

This individual will partner with global cross-functional teams to develop business segment roadmaps, short and long term project plans and identify technology trends.   The position interfaces frequently with business senior leadership, and will build and maintain relationships and interface regularly with strategic suppliers at the executive level. 

 

Portfolio Management

 

  • Establish the vision and strategy for DT products and services, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Support development of strategic roadmaps short- and long-term initiatives and project plans and identify technology trends and opportunities.
  • Lead the software lifecycle, from conception to retirement, ensuring applications meet business and user needs.
  • Continuously improve IT portfolio based on user feedback, business needs, and emerging technologies.
  • Assist in defining metrics needed to evaluate DT performance and propose strategies to address any identified performance gaps moving forward.

 

Team Leadership

 

  • Manage and mentor a team of business analysts, ensuring their work supports the strategic direction of the products.
  • Develop and maintain a high-performing team that is aligned with business goals and delivers impactful product solutions.
  • Support the career development of business analysts by providing guidance, growth opportunities, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Lead performance management by setting clear objectives, providing regular feedback, conducting performance reviews, and addressing development areas to ensure continuous team growth and alignment with business goals.
  • Drive ownership of project teams to deliver engagements, including: DT requirements, business justification models, business use cases, change management and communication plans, and business and technical architectures.

 

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

 

  • Partner with business stakeholders to ensure Digital Technology is an integrated component of asset, site, and business strategies.
  • Partner with global business partners to provide tactical and strategic technology services and solutions that align with the respective business strategy.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across teams to ensure alignment on product development goals.
  • Vendor and Compliance Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure product needs are met effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with production change management processes, including SOX compliance and product support.


 

Min. Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in information technology, engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Typically, 15+ years of relevant experience. Direct experience in digital technology or experience in manufacturing, engineering, HSE, R&D, capital projects or related domain. 
  • Experience in the Petrochemical Industry with strong business acumen 
  • Managing multiple concurrent initiatives and significant experience in the matrix management of resources across multiple groups.
  • Strong understanding and appropriate use of financial processes and techniques and proven business case development skills, including: experience with both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Broad and extensive business management skills and knowledge.
  • Possess strong organizational, analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Superb collaboration and communication skills.
  • Goal driven, action oriented.
  • Communicate and defend DT policies and standards; understand how DT services benefit the business.

 

This position conducts business in more than 6 countries or in areas/communities that have strong, unique ethnic/cultural traditions. Domestic and international travel of 5% is anticipated.
