Basic Function

  • Lead and manage a team of fully dedicated resources to solve challenges related to the LyondellBasell (LYB) customer experience, as part of LYB’s Customer and Commercial Excellence (CCE) effort
  • Develop the team, motivate, inspire and coach the team members with the specific aim to foster and set new benchmark level of customer delight
  • Represent the “voice of the customer” at the team level, maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog to ensure that the team is working on stories that maximize business value and deliver necessary fixes and functionality to all customers
  • Work with LyondellBasell’s Customer Experience Office to define the team’s scope and metrics for success
  • Coordinate with stakeholders outside the team (e.g., business owners, sales, marketing, customers) to develop the best possible solution
  • Support the recruitment, management, and retention of an agile team consisting of the Project Owner, a “Scrum Master”, and 3-5 team members
  • Fully dedicated to the Project Owner role

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Validates Agile team composition and ensures the required skillsets are present
  • Defines the requirements (the “what”) for team members to act and guides the team in defining the approach (the “how”)
  • Defines (with Agile team) sprint goals; attends Agile ceremonies and events 
  • Selects inputs from stakeholders to be reflected into the product backlog
  • Sets and validates acceptance criteria; decides when a backlog item is “done” and a working prototype is ready for release
  • Constantly manages and prioritizes the backlog and ensures future backlog items are visible and clear to the entire Agile team
  • Assumes responsibility for final decisions on product to deliver to the Customer Experience Lead
  • Understands and supports inter-team dependencies and escalates issues when necessary
  • Engages the Customer Experience Office and other leadership for guidance or for solving conflicts / impediments if needed
  • Ensures smooth transition of the project from the Agile team to teams running day-by-day operations
  • Completes Agile project owner training and ensures Agile team members are properly onboarded

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required. A degree in Business, Communications, or Social Science is preferred.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 1+ years managing a team of 5+ people (directly or indirectly)
  • Strong track record of coordinating deliverables across multiple people within teams
  • Significant (3-5 years) of commercial experience, gained in Sales, Marketing and/or Supply Chain in the Petrochemical Industry
  • Experience or familiarity with Agile methodology perferred. 
  • Agile certification a plus
  • Seniority to properly engage within the team and with the key regional/divisional stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Business focus to ensure value adding activities are captured and implemented
  • Be a strong advocate for fostering creativity, innovation, problem solving and continuous improvement within the team.
