POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Integrated Supply, Trading & Optimization (IST&O) internship program offers a unique opportunity to be part of an evolving commercial organization  focused on connecting commercial insight, market intelligence, supply-chain knowledge, and analytical rigor to create business value.Our mission in  IST&O is to build an organization that strengthens LYB enterprise performance by aligning market risk management, asset flexibility, and commercial decisions within a governance and compliance framework in partnership with Middle and Back Office teams.

 

As IST&O continues to build its capabilities, processes, and culture, interns will gain meaningful exposure to how trading-related, commercial, supply-chain, market, and analytical decisions come together to drive business performance. Depending on the assignment and business need, interns may contribute to work involving commercial strategy, commercial scheduling & operations, market and value-chain analysis, analytics, or trading support.

 

This opportunity is designed for students who are curious, innovative, energized by solving complex business problems, and excited to learn in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Interns will contribute to meaningful business initiatives while building relationships across multiple functions and developing a broad understanding of potential trading, scheduling & operations, business development & origination, and analytics career paths within IST&O.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

General

    • Support projects that improve commercial performance, supply & operations effectiveness, and value creation.
    • Analyze market, commercial, supply & logistics, and financial information to identify opportunities and support decision-making.
    • Assist in developing reports, dashboards, business analyses, models, and presentations for stakeholders.
    • Participate in cross-functional initiatives involving commercial, scheduling, logistics, analytics, market analysis, and trading-related teams.
    • Evaluate business scenarios and provide recommendations supported by data and analysis.
    • Support continuous improvement efforts and contribute innovative ideas and solutions to business challenges.
    • Develop an understanding of how commercial, market, operations & scheduling, and analytical decisions affect overall business performance.
    • Present findings and recommendations to project teams, business stakeholders, and leaders.
    • Demonstrate safe, ethical, and responsible conduct in all assigned activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Data Science, Engineering, Finance or other related discipline. Some degrees may include: Business Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Management Information Systems, Supply Chain Management.

• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

 

Note: Open to other degrees as keen to identify strong critical thinkers, curious minds, and agile learners.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Interest in commercial, trading-related, operations scheduling, market, analytical, and data-driven business environments.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI, SAP, or other analytics tools is a plus.
