This is the role
Reporting to the C&LCS Business Controller, this new role is responsible for manufacturing cost control and analysis (MC&A), reporting, and internal controls coordination across multiple sites in the Netherlands, Belgium, North America (California), and Germany. The role also provides MC&A support to several smaller Western European joint ventures on behalf of the Business Controller C&LCS EMEAI.
This position requires direct collaboration with site managers and their teams, as well as partnering with Supply Chain, Procurement and other support organizations to ensure compliance with accounting principles and control standards impacting manufacturing costs, working capital, and overall business performance. The role influences decision-making by providing financial insights that drive profitability while understanding and managing risks inherent in manufacturing operations. Furthermore, this role participates in key projects, including SAP rollouts and process improvements, and drives the development and enhancement of analysis and reporting capabilities.
This role serves as an active business partner to Site Managers and their teams, Business Managers, Business Finance, Internal Controls, and Audit. It encompasses all accounting functions for assigned sites, including month-end close, manufacturing cost analysis (fixed and variable), manufacturing and corporate reporting, and internal controls coordination. The role may require international travel.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing, implementing, and continuously improving the C&LCS manufacturing reporting and analysis framework, providing actionable insights to key stakeholders
- Performing variance analyses on process orders (price, efficiency, substitution, etc.), proactively investigating and resolving discrepancies, including those related to master data (BOMs, recipes, standards).
- Coordinating, preparing, and supporting:
- Annual manufacturing fixed, variable cost, and CAPEX budgeting
- Site forecasting
- Periodic cost and CAPEX reviews
- Site appraisals
- Internal controls and SOX compliance
- Cost classification
- Physical inventory stock takes
- Shutdown/maintenance related financials
- Site audits
- Construction projects (e.g., new plant/ location)
- Ad-hoc financial support for manufacturing sites
- Supporting key LYB initiatives (SAP S4 implementations/upgrades, OneStream, benchmark studies, synergy/headcount tracking);
- Providing miscellaneous support (audits, government statistical reporting, site DoA matters);
- Supporting C&LCS joint ventures with manufacturing cost reporting and analysis, collaborating with the Business Controller and other stakeholders.

This is what you bring
- A Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, finance or other related business degree is required;
- Advanced degree and/ or CPA/ CMA/ CFA preferred;
- Typically 8-10 years of work experience in an international corporate setting, with knowledge of financial accounting concepts and systems. Emphasis on analytics, planning and controlling;
- A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in manufacturing controlling and analysis is required;
- Strong SAP experience and excellent Microsoft Excel skills are required;
- Fluency in English is required; German is highly desirable;
- Relevant industry knowledge (e.g., recycling, plastics, chemical, and/or refining) is preferred.
