The Industry Application Development Lead (m/f/d) for Wire and Cable Solutions supports LyondellBasell’s polyolefins innovation strategy by driving the development of products and solutions for priority applications in selected industries and end-market for Wire and Cable.  Key responsibilities of the position include gathering market intelligence from customers and other value chain players (brand owners, machine manufacturers, standardization bodies, etc.), understanding emerging needs, developing new technical solutions for customers, and supporting the commercialization of LyondellBasell polymers in new and existing applications. The primary focus of the position is on value generation through focused innovation.

Day in the Life:

• The Industry Applications Development Lead provides critical input to support development programs and anticipates directions for future target applications.
• The Lead is recognized as a technical expert in the targeted markets, providing direction to various stakeholders, including R&D groups, the Industry Marketing Managers and Sales.
• The Lead’s expertise includes knowledge of the market, product/resin requirements and application processes/equipment.
• The Lead supports long-term development projects with priority customers in cooperation with the Industry Marketing Managers.
• Possesses a deep and broad fundamental understanding of key technologies and applications in the respective industry market segment for Wire and Cable, and uses these skills to drive application development activities within the group.
• Possesses an excellent understanding of the responsibilities of key cross-functional groups and uses this knowledge to effectively and quickly drive application development activities within the group.
• Understands the long-term strategic vision for the Company, and leads efforts to work with key stakeholders to translate and integrate these into objectives and action plans, while also driving resource/equipment selection and allocation to align with strategic vision
• Provides strategic leadership in the identification, development and implementation of tools, systems and processes aimed at continuously improving technical service, application development and project management effectiveness.
• Understands broad customer, market and industry needs / trends, and facilitates the group’s interaction with other cross-functional organizations to frame these into value added opportunities.
• Understands financial analysis and drives the utilization of good project management skills and tools to effectively advance product and application development projects.
• Leads efforts to embrace and drive change, while also challenging the status quo and influencing management as necessary.
• Ensures, promotes and implements highest safety policies and standards.

You Bring This Value:

• University technical degree preference in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering or Chemistry or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 15 years of industry experience with preferred experience in the Polypropylene/ Polyethylene infrastructure and/ or building and construction industries or 15 or more years’ experience with polyolefin resins used in targeted applications.
• A general knowledge of High and Low Density polyethylene, Polypropylene and Catalloy resin technologies with a business/market focus is desired.
• Exposure to LYB Polymers business preferred.
• English, additional European language preferred.
• This position will require approximately 30% travel mostly within the region.
