Application Development Lead – Wire & Cable (m/f/d) Chemical Industry

The Industry Application Development Lead (m/f/d) for Wire and Cable Solutions supports LyondellBasell’s polyolefins innovation strategy by driving the development of products and solutions for priority applications in selected industries and end-markets for Wire and Cable.  Key responsibilities of the position include gathering market intelligence from customers and other value chain players (brand owners, machine manufacturers, standardization bodies, etc.), understanding emerging needs, developing new technical solutions for customers, and supporting the commercialization of LyondellBasell polymers in new and existing applications. The primary focus of the position is on value generation through focused innovation.

 

Day in the Life:

  • Lead application development activities and provide technical direction for current and future industry applications
  • Act as a recognized technical expert, supporting R&D, Industry Marketing, Sales, and other key stakeholders
  • Drive application and product development projects in collaboration with strategic customers and cross-functional teams
  • Leverage deep expertise in market requirements, materials, processing technologies, and application equipment to develop innovative solutions
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration to ensure efficient execution of development initiatives and business objectives
  • Translate the company's long-term strategy into actionable goals, development priorities, and resource plans
  • Identify market trends, customer needs, and emerging opportunities to create value-added solutions and business growth
  • Develop and implement tools, systems, and processes that enhance technical service, application development, and project management effectiveness
  • Manage projects using sound financial analysis and project management practices to achieve successful outcomes
  • Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and change by ensuring

 

You Bring This Value:

  • University technical degree preference in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering or Chemistry or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the polymer or polyolefin industry, ideally in polypropylene, polyethylene, infrastructure or building & construction applications
  • A general knowledge of High and Low Density polyethylene, Polypropylene and Catalloy resin technologies with a business/market focus is desired
  • Exposure to Polymers business preferred
  • Fluent English is required. Additional European language skills are an advantage
  • This position will require approximately 30% travel mostly within the EU region
