The Health&Occupational Safety (H&OS) lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Health, and Occupational Safety within the Ferrara site organization (i.e., Manufacturing, R&D and support functions). As Site RSPP is Legally responsible for Italian Law on all Site H&S matters according to D.Lgs.81/08.

The activity is aimed at developing, implementing, and monitoring Site H&OS strategy, programs, policies and communication to ensure Goal Zero, compliance with statutory and LYB requirements and promotion an healthy and safe work environment, in collaboration with Site Leadership and employees and with continuous improvement. and direct advisor of both Manufacturing and R&D Site Manager on H&S matter. Collaborate to represents Ferrara Site on H&OS matters (e.g., audits) with Authorities, unions, third parties, Ferrara consortium and with LYB Corporate HSE.

Ensures strategy, planning and execution of all H&OS processes and activities by managing a team of approx. 9 LYB resources (including LYB exempt Site SMEs, coordinators of activities) for the following disciplines: Health, Health & Safety risk assessment, Occupational Safety daily plants’ and labs support, BBS – Behavioral-Based Safety and HSE special initiatives.

A Day in the Life

1. H&OS strategy, performance and compliance. Defines and deploys the Ferrara Site Health & Occupational Safety strategy, objectives, improvement plans and budget, in alignment with HSEQT Manager and Site/Corporate Leadership. Monitors performance, identifies improvement and innovation opportunities, and ensures compliance with statutory requirements and LYB standards.
2. Site RSPP and legal H&S coordination. Acts as officially appointed Site RSPP under D.Lgs. 81/2008, coordinating prevention and protection activities, ASPP team duties, risk assessment processes and reporting on H&S compliance. Advises Site Manager and Site Leadership on Health & Safety matters and interfaces with RLS, Legal, HSE Compliance and relevant site functions.
3. Standards, audits and governance. Develops, updates and ensures the implementation of site H&OS standards, procedures, programs and practices. Coordinates site responses to Corporate directives and initiatives, manages internal and external audits on H&OS matters, and ensures audit findings, safety tours and surveillance activities are tracked and improved.
4. Safety culture, communication and engagement. Promotes reporting culture, near-miss analysis, recognition, learning and communication. Leads site safety initiatives, campaigns and programs, including Behavioral-Based Safety processes, and coordinates KPI analysis, reporting and communication to support continuous improvement.
5. Corporate interface. Represents Ferrara Site in LYB Corporate Health & Occupational Safety networks and initiatives, sharing best practices, supporting corporate safety campaigns and standards development, and facilitating site requests on H&OS matters.
6. Health, risk assessment and operational support. Manages site health processes, exposure monitoring data and related actions, in cooperation with the Company Doctor. Ensures DVR/JRA and DUVRI processes are performed, documented and communicated, and that preventive and protective measures, including PPE, are properly selected and implemented.
7. Occupational Safety field support and training. Leads the Occupational Safety support team, ensuring adequate expertise and field availability for plants and laboratories, including radiation protection, MOC/TRAs and HSEQT call-out service. Provides technical input for H&OS training and supports training coordination on legal and regulatory requirements.

You Bring This Value

Education:

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Safety related disciplines.
• Additional qualifications are preferred criteria.

Work Experience: 

• Minimum 8 years’ experience;
• Proven experience in a complex Manufacturing environment, with strong preference for Chemical & Process Industry;
• Proven experience in managing teams and budget in a multinational company environment. Past experience in HSEQT is strongly preferential.

Licenses & Certifications: 

• LYB OE Audit Self Assessment qualification;
• RSPP (Responsabile del Servizio di Prevenzione e Protezione) statutory qualification (Italian compliance requirement - D.Lgs.81/2008) is preferential;

Languages: 

• • Fluent Italian language (written and spoken).  
  • Fluent English language (written and spoken). 
  • Additional languages are a plus.
