Basic Function
This position has the responsibility for supporting and improving the Basic Regulatory Control, as well as identifying and implementing new advanced control applications to improve plant throughput, profitability, stability, reliability, and safety. This position is expected to create, monitor and ensure Advance Process Control (APC) applications are functioning as desired.
Additional responsibility is to lead the activity of the Alarm Management (AM), in accord to LYB Corporate related standard, with the aim of increasing Plant staff promptness of reaction to potential safety upset/deviation revealed from instruments. Core related activities are made of rationalizing, prioritizing DCS alarms and monitoring their numbers trend along the time.
This position generates a broad range of challenges that require routine interaction with other work groups to ensure maximum value and safety improvement are derived from the control systems and alarms management.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversees APC and AM implementations, providing regular maintenance and troubleshooting or resolving issues as they arise, in strong cooperation with maintenance, engineering and process departments
- Conceives, justifies, designs, and commission new APC & Optimization applications and inferential qualities
- Defines and support DCS regulatory control strategies and improvements
- Provides technical consultation, formal and informal training, and development of documentation, standards, and procedures in relation to their role
- Develops APC opportunities and assess benefits to be prioritized into a long range plan
- Performs audits of controller benefits
- Develops, optimizes and maintains alarms database and recurrencies trends, in accord to Corporate standard

Min. Qualifications
Education:
- University Degree in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or Electronic Engineering
Work experience:
- 0-4 years in industrial process control systems optimization and/or design
Languages:
- Good English knowledge, preferred Italian as mother tongue.
Technical Skills
- Statistics and probability
- Engineering knowledge of instruments and their field installation in a Chemical environment Atex classified
- Engineering knowledge of Digital Control Systems (DCS)
- Familiarity with common plant documentation (e.g. PFD, P&ID)
